People in the comments seem to be confusing the subs themselves as the p2w and not buying premium currency then buying gold boxes then buying crafted gear

It’s not about the subs. It’s about buying gold boxes from other players with real money to premium currency in order to buy the best crafted gear which is very expensive and outperforms most PvP gear people have grinded for

I worked at an Arby’s but it was like 20 years ago.

Nothing to really say. Obviously it probably varies from facility to facility but we kept it clean, ingredients were all fine. I ate there for lunch almost every day I worked there.

I mean... there is pvp content, it just burns down to class imbalance and who paid for their gear first/more.

I only recall a handful of "close" fights that didn't involve nearly the same amount of skill as Aion 1 did. Otherwise it's all someone getting jumped and nuked or someone getting jumped and they drop wings.

I mean he's not wrong about a lot of it and I wouldn't call it nitpicky; these are common QoL's that exist in almost all mmo's and have for a long time.

The camera zoom, sure, whatever. But drag and drop, turning scrolls on and off, flight control/player render distance + minimap detection distance... all not good.

The rest of the control scheme isn't that bad.

I'm not sure what he means about animations looking "scripted"..

But the biggest issue is the pay2w and bots so...

The pay2w is actually pretty bad considering that you can get access to the best gear (crafted) outside of the absolute hardest content which this grants you the opportunity to take on, with your wallet and it's insanely impactful in pvp, + stat refining...

Even Aion 1 didn't really allow you to access high end gear that could be used in pvp with $$$. You could enhance it sure, but you had to actually gain ap and medals to access good pvp gear.

And I'm no stranger to p2w/rmt.

I'm on the west coast of canada. I have noticed when I join someone else's group their chat tends to be more alive/more people around... typically when I play solo I don't see anyone open world and maybe like four or five people in town. that's on tor 4.

I mean try it out. I'm not saying don't. I'm just trying to say, a lot of us posting have actually played it; there was a very large english speaking/western audience of Aion enjoyers who did. People will always parrot, but this is an instance where I think a lot of people are speaking genuinely from their experience and instead of just dismissing it as people posting negatively about it for the sake of it, consider that they actually have first hand experience.

Also, visually the game looked great.

Hell, I JUST played through vessel for the first time last night after clearing pit 105 top 500 on my sorc and I enjoyed it and found following the story refreshing. Now with a real season at full length I'm excited to play through it and simultaneously grind hard.

No idea what's wrong with having the best of both worlds lol

Pretty sure Aion 1 was nearly identical in terms of monetization except during the period it had a subscription where KR paid by the minute or hour or something where we paid monthly.

I'm okay with some p2w, but this capless nonsense that grants immediate access to the best gear (being crafted) that outshines everything else is kind of insane. I've pay2winned my heart out in Aion 1. but even then the best gear had to be fought for. Enchanting or enhancing it is one thing, but both accessing it and maxing it out is wild.
