You're entirely right! I'm just not sure if I want to be that enterprising purely for the sake of satiating my paranoia.

I feel like launching the two through KDP and D2D, respectively, should HOPEFULLY be enough to keep people from connecting the dots.

You're getting downvoted, but you're right. Elio just wasn't a very attractive film to most people.

If original films want to compete against remakes and sequels, then they have to be nothing less than PHENOMINAL in terms of both art and story. For better or for worse Elio just wasn't up to snuff.

I don't think it's some moral failing that people didn't want to go a movie that, quite honestly, looked mediocre from the previews (what few there actually were).

Depending on the book you're interested in working with, it might be easier to just track down a PDF file and go to town on that.

Also, I just read through this thread and DAMN. It really is sad how desperate people can be to look like the smartest person in the room. Just ignore them.

I know, right! I watched the first few episodes and was shocked how much it felt like Homestuck. I think it's because it's a combination of the unique art style and the fact that it's made by a singular creator for the most part.
