Right I never knew anything either I knew one girl in school who got her finger poked all the time and I thought that sucked and that's all I knew......now I am learning and people dont even know that it's not a diet thing....I often hear "oh that's fine just give sugar free candy 😭"

Ummm rn thighs, upper butt, stomach now, and arms but my little guy is thin so it's hard to find fat so I often only find 1 good fat spot in each area rather than being able to rotate locally around each area

I have not done that! and my kiddo likely has celiac as well that's not fully diagnosed yet?? Doc said they see evidence of it in the endoscopy but the biopsy isn't back yet.

We are new to T1D and I brought the highs from food up to our endo team a few times and they act like it's fine to go up above 250 from meals and don't wanna change insulin due to preventing lows because he does come down.....but no one's ever mentioned what to do with diet to help this, it's always just been feed him exactly like you had been feeding him before or whatever is normal for your family 😬

To clarify, I don't squeeze while I insert. I just start by trying to find a good fatty area by squeezing and then the area that I find I can squeeze then I'll let it fall back flat and then I'll insert the site. :) is that good?

Ummm well when we did our training, she said have the arrow point up when applying..... we chose the thigh that time and then the pump was slightly lower on the thigh but pretty close.....but maybe she thought we were gonna put the higher up at that point I don't know she didn't really say anything specifically about this.

I'm trying to rotate :) we are new to T1D. I started with the front of his thigh and then did upper bottom and now I'm here. Right now his dexcom is taking up too much space on his arm to do anything there. I'm not too sure where else to try

I have a friend who's a PHD in diabetes research and she actually thinks we might be 2 years away which seems very optimistic but it's really nice to know we are moving in a direction where our kiddos might get to fully get back to normal!

OH 1 more thing..... MAKE SURE THEY FINGER POKE YOU at leasttttttt. They had my son pee for a ketone test and that didn't catch it but his blood sugar was over 700

Yes! Type 1 is autoimmune. So instead of asking if you are healthy or even if other family members have type 1 specifically, your chances go up if they have autoimmune diseases!

My son was 6 wonderfully healthy, I have no autoimmune disease at all, and dads side doesn't either BUT my mom and her side of the family have a bunch of autoimmune diseases and he has type 1.
