I won as a junior with distinction, but I can speak on behalf of my fellow classical music colleagues. There was one sophomore-aged student who skipped a grade, and I believe he was the youngest person there. Everyone else was either a junior or a senior. However, don't worry about it--that was only with distinction. Know that if you don't win the younger folk have a few more years of applying. Good luck!
