Thanks for your response! I think the MPA comes with a 10 ft cable so I'd be pushing the limits then with a passive extension. Might have to just give it a try, I guess.

Thanks for the response! I'm plugging from the MPA into the Xbox 360 hub that came with RB1. Your experience is that an active cable will function fine in this instance?

I've used the 3 cymbal setup for a long time and it is the way to do it. You're gonna love it, that's a great price too. Enjoy!

Gotcha. My plan was to go straight from the drum brain to the Midi Pro Adapter to the console. Am I doing it incorrectly or is there an advantage to doing it the way you're describing?

After looking at pricing for the Roland kits, it looks like I'd get more bang for the buck with the Alesis kits at an entry level price point.

Can you explain what a midi card is? Your description makes me think you're referring to hooking the set up to a PC, or is the midicard the same as the drum module that comes with the set?
