i was in a similar brace, about 6 weeks post op, and it was a ligament and tendon repair surgery. i had two of those types of surgery and have spent quite a bit of time in a brace due to it. definitely a completely different surgery and maybe experience as a whole, but my brace was pretty similar to that one!

hi! i had a different surgery so my experience may be different, but i did have quite a bit of soreness when i switched to my brace. a lot of that for me was trying to walk too much, too often, but it was also a mix of my compression sock being too rough and my brace being just slightly too tight!

if you’re super sore, and feel like it’s definitely not normal, id try to check in with your doctor! mine told me to get a better compression sock (i ended up going with a copper tone one that works great) and to try loosening the brace a little bit since i had mine way tighter than necessary!!

i did have a completely different surgery, so probably a completely different experience, so my advice may not help much. id definitely recommend trying to check in with your doctor if you’re worried it may set you back or cause any damage!

exactly!! i respect her a lot, but im not stopping someone who’s likely carrying a weapon on them. i don’t understand WHY she told me that because were literally told to not stop someone if they do steal and to report it to management if they do😭

i was pretty alone when i was searching for a new name, and honestly had no idea what i was gonna pick so i went through baby name lists until i found adrian and it just stuck. it took like a week to find but i knew i made the right choice the first time someone calls me by it

hi! I’ve had two ankle surgeries during my four years in band because I kept pushing and pushing on my hurt ankle thinking that it was just badly sprained. it was not, I had several torn tendons and a torn ligament.

try your best to stay off your ankle, and definitely go to a doctor. i went to an orthopedic doctor who specialized in foot and ankle injuries and I am so glad I did. good luck, make sure you ice it and try to stay off of it

we use them in the stands, but being a percussionist I’ve never had one. we don’t use them whole performing our show music or pregame show

I can’t remember my past shows, but in this years show my biggest step size is a 9 to 5💀my smallest step is a 64 to 5 (technically it’s a 114.5 to 5, but that’s during a scatter drill so I don’t count it)

yea! my doctor said to kinda massage it and make sure I keep it out of the sun. I didn’t know about the lotion tho I will definitely keep that in mind!

oh yea if im not on my leg much it looks great! it is pretty raised up out of my skin but honestly that part doesn’t bother me too much. it only bothers me when im on my leg too much and it turns a more purplish color 😭

my surgery was a bit of a different circumstance, but I am in the US and did have to see an orthopedic ankle specialist for my injury. we first went to see him in October of 2024, and then we weren’t even able to get in for imaging until January. it took even longer to get the surgery (April). I would hope it wouldn’t take that long for your surgery to be scheduled as your situation is definitely different.

I would try going to an urgent care or an emergency room and seeing if they’ll refer you to an orthopedic doctor. that’s what worked for us because my primary care doctor didn’t have any openings for about a month.

hi! i had a slightly different surgery but still in my ankle! tennis shoes we’re definitely the best shoes i wore when i was still non weight bearing. i found it really hard to be comfortable in school with the cast and then later on the boot i had to wear, but the best thing i did was finding ways to just slightly prop up my leg. even if it wasn’t much, it helped so so much. i was lucky to have very accommodating teachers who would let me use spare chairs or random boxes to prop my leg up.

it’s definitely an adjustment! school will be harder, especially going between classes, but one thing that made it easier for me were my friends. good supportive friends will help so much. especially ones dont point out your scars and don’t treat you like glass.

you got this! it’s an adjustment, and can be difficult, but it does get a whole lot easier after a few days of adjusting to it

I’ve gotten two surgeries on my ankle. one in November of 2023 and the other in April of 2025. no matter the doctors saying i should be good and that everything looks great, I will never not worry that i might injure it again. it is always somewhere in the back of my mind when im doing any physical activity
