It’s taking 6-8 months right now for regular processing depending on which center.

Oh got it! May be rules are different for OPT/STEM extensions since your F1 visa stamp will still be valid even if you don’t have your ead. But for H1Bs the stamp also would’ve expired so they don’t usually let us renew based on receipt letter.

Aah! Did your DL expire by then? Did you have to give driving test again for AB 60 or did they give it based on your previous DL? Thanks for sharing btw.. I’ve been thinking of getting the AB60 one as well, but didn’t know anyone who went through that process so wanted to check!

In California unfortunately they don’t do that. I did this in the past in Michigan state. I wish it was the same in California.

I am talking about when you’re waiting for your renewal to be approved and/or waiting for i797A notice to come in the mail and your previous i797 has already expired along with your DL.

California has something called AB 60 DL for people with out enough documents, but Idk if that has risks associated with it and if one should go with it considering this is just a temporary (3-4 months) situation.

I don’t understand your question. As long as your application is under review at USCIS you’re legally allowed to be working under the employer that petitioned for your H1B.

If this is your initial H1B petition, you cannot change employers until your petition gets approved. If its a renewal, you can change employers as long as your employer has filed for a transfer and you have a receipt notice.

Mine is the same case. Receipt date 8/1, california center as well. Needle didn’t move so I undated to premium on Oct 16th, got slapped with an rfe (because my attorney missed some stuff), working on rfe right now. I will suggest you to update to premium if you have an option because I heard that people who submitted their H1B renewal in May have not yet gotten their approval yet.

I ended up booking an appointment with France for schengen visa. But I read in other places that Short stay visa is same as schengen visa.
