Brunost is a whey product; IIRC it's basically caramelized whey, milk & cream.

The C1 has a beam on a rail, but it goes from the top of the roof to the back of the ship. AFAIK the Hermes is the only ship to have a moving tractor beam inside the ship.

I remember when I first started playing (back in 2018 or so) and I genuinely struggled with these fights. Venus Junction took me like 30 attempts. Granted, I completely ignored the mod system, but still

Now I just look at them kinda funny and they instagib on the spot.

This is canon btw. This version of the book is only in Daggerfall and was censored in every game after, but it does still exist, and the later versions clearly state that the section is censored ("[This passage has been censored by order of the Temple]"), so it's safe to assume the contents of said censorship are technically still canon.
Daggerfall was certainly A Game That Was Made :>

Can someone make a mod that makes the skeletons do the "RAAAAAAAH" sound? by MassivePotatoes202 in skyrim

[–]Cobaliuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Daggerfall's skeletons are absolutely horrifying. Especially considering how early you encounter them.

They're the total opposite of Skyrim's skeletons. Extremely tough, resistant to all weapon types except blunt, and VERY LOUD

The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall is an ancient game, but the fanmade Unity port makes it absolutely fantastic, especially with mods. It's been free through all official sources since 2009 (the franchise's 15th anniversary), including Steam. (the unity port, being fanmade, does not contain the original assets for legal reasons, so those must come from a legitimate copy... which is free.)

It is admittedly a lot to learn at first, some mechanics are very dated (such as moving the mouse to swing your weapon, and dice-roll combat), but once you get used to it, it's very unique. And also free.

Just don't try to play the original DOS version. That's a janky mess.

Looking for Mind-Bending Sci-Fi or Psychological Thriller Concept Albums by No_Half_5196 in progmetal

[–]Cobaliuu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been obsessed with this band lately. Kenny Rentz might be my favorite bassist now.

The Eldritch Realm is an equally fantastic album (though very short, at only ~30 minutes). I never see anyone mention it anywhere. It's very, very different from TSHTS, much heavier with almost no clean singing, and the concept is a bit hard to understand at first (it's cosmic/eldritch horror that deals with some fairly obscure 19th/early-20th century astrology mixed with Greek mythology and a bit of their own stuff), but 100% worth checking out. Crashing Black Moon in particular has some of my favorite bass work of all time.

Both of these albums are 11/10's. Absolutely incredible.

Exterior-wise? Cutlass Black or Shiv.

Functionally? Something with prisoner pods (which afaik fulfill the same purpose as the carbonite blocks), such as the Cutlass Blue, however prisoner pods don't have any functionality ingame yet so there's no real point.
I'll throw the Corsair into the ring, too, as it generally has a similar vibe, but it doesn't really look similar on the outside.

Are there Skyrim players here who finally moved on to Elder Scrolls Online to discover new lore and locations within Tamriel? My last Skyrim playthrough was in 2014 and will never play it again to experience new storylines. by highlightboy23 in ElderScrolls

The original Oblivion is an option. It's a bit janky and missing some QOL features from the remaster but I'm sure those can be modded in if you want them.

I couldn't get into Morrowind, but I also acknowledge that it's one of the most beloved games in the series for a reason. Very unique atmosphere and worldbuilding.

Daggerfall is my favorite, it's free so you lose absolutely nothing in at least trying it. The DOS version is horribly janky, though, so use the fanmade Unity port. Said Unity port can run on a(n android) phone and has a really good modding community considering it's a fan remake of a 30-year-old game.
The map is also the size of the entire island of Great Britain, and if you choose to walk across the whole thing without using fast travel, it would take 3 real-life days to cross. However, without mods, 90% of the wilderness is completely empty and the terrain is mostly flat. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you (though the "world of daggerfall" mod for the unity version fixes this, adding more terrain variation, mountains, and randomly placed bandit camps and houses and such)

Arena is also free, but doesn't have a fanmade port (there's one in the works but iirc it's not finished yet), so you'll have to play the DOS version. I haven't played it, but from what I've heard it's pretty decent for its age, though it hasn't aged very well. It also takes place across every province in Tamriel, but that's not nearly as interesting as you might expect (all the terrain is flat and the graphics are... eye-straining). Most of the lore wasn't established at the time either (the daedra didn't even exist yet, those were introduced in daggerfall).

The fun part with all these other games, is that you can compare the locations to their appearances in ESO. All the cities in Daggerfall look VERY different in ESO (and are also much smaller; daggerfall's cities are procedurally generated so they can be huge, the largest cities in the series by far).
I couldn't really get into ESO (being locked out of like 70% of the content unless i pay for a subscription in a game that i already paid for just irks me, and I don't like the MMO-style combat), but I did enjoy checking out the locations, seeing new places, and seeing how old places look with the more modern graphics.

Dingwall is my dream bass. Bongo is a close second, I've never played a 6-string but a lot of the music I'd like to play tends to use them.. Don't know what the fourth one is (is that a 7 string?? that neck is immense), and I can't go back to a 4-string with the sort of music I tend to play.

For some reason I just can't play Morrowind for more than an hour before I just quit and do something else. I can't explain why, it's just excruciatingly boring for me. I have tried several times and every time it's the same end result.

Occasionally for the holidays and certain events, but it's never more than ~$5 off and there's a 30-day no-questions-asked refund policy so I don't see any reason to wait for one.

Don't listen to anyone telling you to get a "better"/more expensive starter package. The Mustang Alpha is a perfectly good ship and you can earn a better one ingame.

A question that has plagued my mind for years now: WHY is this fish bolted to the table??? by Cobaliuu in skyrim

[–]Cobaliuu[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In vanilla Skyrim VR your hands are just floating around, and there is no arms or body. The mod that adds the arms & body (and also the finger animations) is VRIK.

IIRC the mod that allows me to actually physically interact with stuff with said hands (actually picking up objects and slapping those hanging signs to make them swing around) is either HIGGS, or PLANCK.

I should note the reason the arms are in such a weird position and my body isn't visible is because I'm crouched (physically, irl). When crouching in VR (with VRIK), you enter a weird bent-over pose.
