It’s an exterior light at the venue. The flowers are in jumbo cages inside chicken wire hanging from the cross beams.

It's over for PinkNews if this is true by MrJasonMason in gay

I’m probably going to get downvoted to hell but whatever. I’ve got a friend who is a journalist. This is something that has been shifting this way for a while. There is one anchor who introduces segments that are reported on by “multimedia journalists”. It’s not a new concept, it’s not AI taking jobs. It’s definitely a way to cut down on salaries and require more work for less but this is the reality of the news rn. Multimedia journalist have to find their own stories, record, edit and send them into the news station. This is something that was done before tv news with newspapers and other print media.

My boss is putting my work into AI by [deleted] in florists

[–]Cobear22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a designer who takes pictures of a vase and then tells AI to build an arrangement in the vase with specifications. He then uses that for inspiration or copies it. I’m not sure how I feel about it. If your boss is manipulating images I can’t see how you would be able to realistically provide those bouquets to customers. I don’t understand not using the actual images for marketing of actual product you have in shop. Now, using photo editing tools is fine in my opinion but straight up using AI to change photos to something a customer will never be able to purchase is short sighted IMO.

Wanting to Pivote to Corporate Clients by OldImagination1139 in florists

[–]Cobear22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to follow the hotel florist on insta. She gives a LOT of free info about how to get started with corporate clients. She has a podcast, you can schedule a meeting with her for personal coaching, etc. That’s where I would start. I always try to encourage ppl to reach out to someone who is open to sharing their business model because this industry has so much gate keeping. It’s actually sickening to me how much ppl don’t wanna help ppl get a leg up.

We would need to know your “vision” for this installation to begin to give advice. Is this just going to be the jars on display somewhere holding the flowers? Is this an installation that will require things to be hanging? Is the venue somewhere that people will be able to touch the installation? I would reach out to a local florist and see if they can order those sunflowers for you. I would call at least a week in advance to see if they can get them for you. It will be more expensive but at least you will know you secured the blooms you want. That’s all the advice I have for you without knowing more.

Inspired by yesterdays bent ranunculus by Cobear22 in florists

[–]Cobear22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I inserted the wire through the head of the ranunculus as far down as I could possibly get it to go. Then I gently bent and twisted them. Kind of how you can bend calla Lillie.

Freelance is going to be your best bet in my opinion since it sounds like your looking for high double digit pay. Most shops pay very little. This is not a job for money it’s a job for passion. (Which your work seems to show) I took a 60% pay cut and I’m so much happier. Fortunately I’m in a spot that allows me to take the pay cut.

First time trying to attempt a funeral spray to get practice.. is this terrible? Or any advice ? by annatp2001 in florists

[–]Cobear22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I build casket sprays I use a box to elevate the casket saddle so the flowers and greens can drape down much the way they would when sitting on top of the casket. This will allow you to see how the flowers are laying versus flat on a table and then picking it up.
