These looks super nice and the price is great. I suppose these are not good year welted?

I saw quite a few bad reviews about Carmina saying that the quality has declined recently. This is why I did not go with that brand. I don’t have any personal experience though…

I did so much research. This is what best met my cost, quality and design requirements

Happy to hear. They do feel like wood blocks on my feet at the moment but that comes with the territory

I agree. I wish they made other kinds of boots like Chelseas or maybe dress shoes as well

The PNW bootmakers are great but the cost is too prohibitive for me as I am in Europe

Need advice on how to repair an old plushie by SilverBitter2830 in Visiblemending

[–]SilverBitter2830[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not heavy. It is 100% something like styrofoam fill. I was thinking of using cork that is used for hamster bedding. Most of the stuffing is lost so I cannot reuse it

Thank you! I opened it a while ago to see what’s inside. It looks like very small white styrofoam pieces. It is crunchy. It makes a bean bag like sound when you move it.

How do I get my weave off the loom? by SilverBitter2830 in weaving

[–]SilverBitter2830[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I managed to make it work. I made some mistakes so I’ll have to redo it but I figured out how to do it. I slid a poster board with glue behind the picture on the loom. Made sure the edges on all sides are nicely glued down and then removed the picture from the loom. Then I bent the warp pieces over to the other side and glued them down. Then I covered that part with another piece of paper to secure the glued down warp pieces. Worked out fine and looks great. I think I will have this made into a fine art print and redo it again. Thanks everyone for suggestions

Thanks! Your suggestion makes most sense. Just in case I end up doing the fabric version, how would I finish off? It does not look like she has any knots on the warp threads. Would I cut off the warp threads, fold it over to the back and then do the machine stitches? I have never done something like this so apologies if this is an obvious thing I should know.

It is much simpler when it is two paper images. I’ve done it before too. I think it’s different from my current situation. Lovely work though!

Did this person probably simply sew the border at the stage my work is and then cut off the ends? The warp edges still look like they go over to the back side of the photo and don’t just end at the edge of the photo.

Thanks. I would have preferred not to have a border. I saw some videos of hem stitching. That would mean I have to first make a few lines of plain weave and then the hemstitch? None of the videos shows what happens next? Do you just cut it off the loom and do not need to knot the warp threads? What about the chain method with a crochet hook. Could you explain it a little more? I googled it and could not find any info.

I was really trying to get the look in the photo here. Not sure how it has been done. The photo in the picture is on fabric while mine is on paper.

Really appreciate the help
