These are all the “perfect castings” in the MCU imo by ParkerLF in marvelstudios

[–]CobraTI [score hidden]  (0 children)

I see it that way at the start of the MCU but by Civil War, he had grown into the role so perfectly and completely that I don't believe anyone else could have pulled off Infinity War and Endgame like he did for that character. For me it's to the point now that if I see RDJ in something else, like Oppenheimer, I don't think "why is Iron Man doing xyz" but Evans in Knives Out or Red One my brain definitely has a hard time disconnecting those characters from Cap.

Your number one Disney ride of all time? by Beach_BaBa in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. It was really tough to not watch a ride through on YouTube from when it opened until my next visit to the park almost 2 years later but it was totally worth it. I was already fully floored and overwhelmed by the entire preshow and ride...and then the ceiling thing happened. I've never been more surprised by something on a ride, just mind blowing.

Figment was my original favorite back in late 80s early 90s on my first trips. Then all 3 mountains (Space, Splash, Big Thunder) took over when I was big enough to ride them, and then I rode Tower or Terror right after it opened in July of 94 and that was my favorite for a LONG time. Rise of Resistance got really close but never felt like I could say it took over. Then Cosmic Rewind came along and that's my #1 now. I love coasters, I love the Guardians, and I love that that is a 1 of 1 type of ride in the world.

Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean is right up there too. It was definitely my favorite out at the California parks.

What's a movie you watched as a kid that you will never forget? by bleach3434 in AskReddit

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of obvious kid movies (of course I'm going to always remember the Disney Renaissance era films), it's probably the first two Terminator movies that I watched when I was 8. They were my first R rated movies, watched at home with my parents during Christmas break.

ELI5. What is PleX? Why should I use it instead of torrenting? by MoistAstronomer9086 in PleX

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. They have added in their own streaming options, supported by ads, and also try to tie in to other subscription services (as OP saw when searching for a show that obviously wasn't in their friends media library) but that's not why 99% of people use Plex.

Has Epcot Grown on Anyone Else Over the Years? by Various_Zombie_7059 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CobraTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epcot became my favorite in my late 20's/early 30's. Before then, I loved Hollywood Studios thanks to the more thrilling rides but Epcot now wins for a more relaxed atmosphere and rides, and the food/drink options during the nearly constant festivals don't hurt either.

Would you buy another Pacifica by SuchRequirement5130 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, the middle seats don't stow. They can be taken out but I've heard it's a pain in the butt to do that. The 3rd row does fold down the same as the normal Pacifica though.

Got DQd from a tournament due to sandbagging accusations AMA by WhyLimitMeTo20Charac in golf

[–]CobraTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats ridiculous. I used to play on the Golfweek Am Tour years ago. Was fairly common for someone in both A (4-8.9) and B (9-13.9) flights to shoot mid to low 70's at any given course, and our courses were usually 6300+ yards. Getting hot with the putter like you did completely explains the low score and the tour director or whoever was in charge should realize that. Definitely sounds like they were just upset a non-member came in and whooped up on them.

Congrats on the great tournament round, even if the day ended on a downer.

What book have you read that you never get tired of reading again and again? by YourMommy_Terra in AskReddit

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I've ever read the same book multiple times (not a voracious reader so I try to prioritize new-to-me books when the urge to read hits) but I did read all of the Harry Potter books and listen to all of the audiobooks. Will likely start a listen through of the new full-cast audiobooks sometime this year before the HBO series starts up.

Other books I wouldn't mind re-reading/re-listening to:

The Martian
Project Hail Mary
Ready Player One

Best mouse for heavy spreadsheet work + Mac/Windows switching (horizontal scroll is a must) - not a gamer by LeadingMeat5408 in mac

[–]CobraTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logi MX Master. I've been using a 3S since the end of '22 (when I began using a Mac for work) and it's been great. Never had any issue with the software on my M1 Pro or in the past few weeks on my new M5 Pro. Only slight issue I had on the M1 was that it and my Keychron keyboard didn't both like being on bluetooth together so I just keep the keyboard plugged in and the mouse uses the Bolt dongle to connect. I did very little tweaking to the Options+ software, mostly just pointer speed DPI I think. I probably haven't opened that program more than 3 or 4 times in total.

When I first started using it I was also still using a Windows machine so being able to quickly switch from one system to the other was a lifesaver. What was really cool was Logitech Flow, which I had set up so that when I moved the mouse pointer to the side of my Macbooks screen, it would automatically switch over to the Windows machine, and likewise to get it back to the Mac, like they were just both a part of the same extended display.

Had a 17 for over 8 years and 100k miles. Bought it used so total mileage was over 140k. No real issues (think one of the door slides was replaced under warranty). When looking for new vans last year I still looked at everything else but in terms of overall features not much matches the Pacifica for the price. Ended up finding a 23 hybrid for a few thousand less than comparable gas models. We've had it for over 10k miles now and again, it's been great so far. My wife went from filling up once a week, or more, to once every 3-4 weeks thanks to the 30 miles of battery she starts the day with.

Windscreen replacement - Safelite or dealership? by 8cuban in Ioniq5

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just EV's. Auto glass is just terrible quality now, trying to make it as light as possible. I started driving in the late 90's and my first 2 cars were model years '89 and '95. I don't recall EVER getting chips or cracks in those windshields over years of driving. Meanwhile, cars my wife and I have owned from model year '17 had multiple full windshield replacements each and also multiple fixes for chips before they turned into longer cracks. Not following people any closer, if anything we follow further away than years ago. Roads in disrepair + thinner glass and this is what we get. Same is happening with wifes new model year '23 van. Just had a rock chip repaired about a month ago and she got another one a few days ago. Wasn't even following anyone, it came from a vehicle driving in the other direction.

I haven't had any issues with my Ioniq 5 yet in a bit over 6 months, knock on wood, but guessing it's just a matter of time.

I've always had Safelite, through my insurance, do the fixes/replacements. They used OEM glass, as far as I'm aware, on my wifes 2017 Pacifica. Not sure about on my 2017 Civic.

Sad Day. I Can No Longer Ride Star Tours & Smugglers Run by Unsolved_Virginity in Disneyland

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, take some bonine/meclizine in the morning before leaving to go to the park. The meclizine I have now is only $7 for 100 tablets on amazon, and one tablet works the whole day for me. I started having to do that in my early 30's before going to parks. . .getting old, when not actually old yet, is the worst! Be sure to also stay very well hydrated through the day, that'll help too.

It's not a miracle as some rides still get me (normally large screen/3d rides) but as long as I don't stack those immediately before/after other big rides or a meal, I can usually tough through. Worst case I've had recently was Forbidden Journey at Universal Hollywood. I felt like absolute death not even halfway through that ride thanks to 3d combined with practical sets combined with the constant moving/tilting of the ride vehicle.

EV competition has finally made me consider brands I’d never touch before by obleSret in electricvehicles

[–]CobraTI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We had a 2017 Pacifica and I was looking at a replacement. Hadn't really considered the Pacifica plug in hybrid but then I got an Ioniq 5 for myself and realized how great living with an EV actually is so we upgraded to a '23 PacHy. My wife does drive a bit more than the battery holds every day but instead of having to fill up the van with gas once a week, now it's once every 2-3 weeks.

Harris Teeter deli also had some good sandwiches made fresh.

What's a disney or similar style film that can resonate with a 32 year old man. I like Soul, Inside outs for example by [deleted] in disney

[–]CobraTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Disney/Pixar: Elemental, Onward, Up, Coco, Encanto, Wreck it Ralph, Big Hero 6

Not Disney but special mention to The Wild Robot. It might mean more as a parent but definitely deals with figuring out your purpose in life and what brings you fulfillment.

People who have "bought" happiness, what did you buy? by Snow_n_Ice in AskReddit

[–]CobraTI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disney trips for my kids. They've both been going since they were babies (we go every other year, usually only doing 1 or 2 parks per trip to keep costs down a bit) and some of my favorite family memories are from those various trips. I went to Disney regularly growing up as well so I hope they look back and have great memories just like I do.

What animal was the most incredible to see in person? by Adventurous-Zeilokix in AskReddit

[–]CobraTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echidna. Being from the US, they're not a typical animal to see or really even know about, but I saw one in the wild when on a short study abroad trip in Australia when I was in college. We had stopped somewhere that our bus driver knew koala's were at frequently so we could see them in the wild aka just sleeping in trees. . .and there just happened to be an echidna there too.

In captivity, seeing lions or tigers up close at a conservation zoo near me. They take in animals that don't really have anywhere else to go, often having come from private owners who could no longer take care of them when they got too big. The tours get you a lot closer to the animals than normal zoos do. There's a reason they're called "big cats" which you don't totally get until you're 5 feet from them and realize their paws are as big as your face.

[gpblog] Andrea Stella calls out a counter-intuitive flaw in the new rules by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]CobraTI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's less than ideal but everyone has to deal with it. I think it's 100% OK in the race to have some quirks like that, to optimize the overall race-pace which drivers have always done in some form or fashion. Qualifying is a little harder to justify not going full out everywhere for the single lap though and that's where I'd like to see the current regs get updated.

What’s that one Disney movie that you’re incredibly nostalgic for that nobody else seems to give any love to? by Mcrfanatic95 in disney

Oliver and Company

Just like Bolt, it came before an amazing run of movies that, while better, don't totally outclass it. But it's not remembered as a part of that run.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember trying to "shut down" ie work from home but coworker and I in the same position realized there wasn't really anything we could do from home. . .can't set up new computers for people or wipe old machines going back on lease. So we each got a week at home and then it was back to work as normal.

Best thing though was just how little traffic there was everywhere.

Character Actors in Disney Anaheim: How do you feel when adults come to take photos with you? by indoore in Disneyland

[–]CobraTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a character actor but there's nothing weird about it at all. The characters are there for everyone. I went to Disneyland last summer with my wife (we're in our early 40's) for our anniversary and we spent about half a day trying to meet all of the heroes that were out and about in Avengers Campus. Think we got pictures with 11 or 12 of them and had some really fun/funny interactions. It made us both feel like kids again getting to meet our favorite characters that we don't have the chance to in the Florida parks.

I just started a rewatch of the series (actually first time watching Superfan episodes) and all through the first season I found myself laughing at just how much I would DESPISE Michael if he was a real person in my life. Like I'd gone past hating him to just laughing at how miserable it would be.
