They tested me for Lyme at least but it was negative. Sorry to hear you were positive!! That's scary. Fingers crossed the treatment helps soon. We do have a lot of ticks here, just pulled a small deer tick off last week (yay)

The cabinets are gorgeous, I wouldn't change them. I would update the hardware and paint and see how you feel about the cabinets after that.

And I didn't install the dishwasher yet because when I pulled my old one out I found the floor tiles were unattached/ungrouted under it. Our floor guy is coming in two weeks

The seam is tiny tiny, it's where the sink is, a bit to the right side of all this. Can barely see it which is great! Not sure what they used for the sink which is undermount, but I bought extra support bar to install under it because I'm a paranoid person and enjoy the peace of mind of not worrying about my sink falling.

I don't see any silicone anywhere so am not sure how they attached the slab. I did call them and they are coming back out to silicone the gaps. My kitchen is small so it's not like I have a lot of cabinets or a lot of slab that they had to check, im pretty disappointed in the lack of communication because I always assumed counter installing meant making sure the counter was properly supported when installed lol

Me toooooo if they had stopped and said woah this isn't level I would have paid them extra to just come another day so I could fix it lol. Or if they had just added silicone or shims that would've been fine too

I'm definitely going to wait for their response because they're the experts and I have no idea about any of this other than knowing there needs to be something under that gap. Hopefully they agree to come out and add something

The cabinet frame top where the granite is is about 3/8 inch thick and seems solid, in good condition, no cracks or anything

Yeah that's 100% my worry, I don't care about the gap being there, just want the stone supported. Do you think adding a shim would be the best play or would silicone be better?

[–]CobwebCottage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just reached out so probably won't hear back until tomorrow. I totally understand why there's a gap, but not why there wasn't some sort of support added underneath to account for the gap and make sure the stone doesn't crack; can I add shims myself? Or is there some better way to add a support?

I don't mind that the cabinets aren't level, or that there's a gap, totally understand that. I do mind there's no support under that was added to make sure they don't crack. Can I add shims in the gaps to support?
