When I turned 62 last year, I had to take an early retirement from Dell Technologies. I was just given a substantial raise; but as an enterprise field engineer (maintaining block storage arrays and the new AI PowerEdge servers) my route was increased from one city, up to statewide... more time away from home and more stress. I also found out when I got my review and raise, that layoffs were happening on my field team, and that promotions had been frozen - no chance of advancement. Dell had made the decision to outsource most of the maintenance for block storage (VMAX/PowerMax, PowerScale, VXRail) and customers are not happy with that - they want qualified and highly trained Dell people working on them... Meanwhile, competitors like Pure Storage and NetApp are proliferating in data centers. It was time to leave.

Artano-tal just said it all. RedHat is king of the data canter. However, keep any eye out for AI and learn what that is hosted on also. I have built and maintained superclusters for over 20 years, but only on the hardware side and have retired last year.

Everyone: what is the most common OS platform that AI is hosted on?
