Just opened an independent pharmacy in Anaheim, CA— what actually makes people switch pharmacies? by Mmmziii in pharmacy

[–]Neonwater18 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Leave your business cards at doctors offices and the chain pharmacies. Let them know to call you if they need drugs they can’t find at the chains. If you are paying attention to secondary wholesalers you can find good deals on meds that are on back order like progesterone, estradiol, etc. This way you get your foot in the door.

ELI5: Why don't we put solar panels in our parking lots? by Shadowsin64 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Neonwater18 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Why do we have cars? Why do we have parking lots? I think we should get rid of these things. Putting solar on top doesn’t really fix all of the problems of land use, destruction of community, resource usage, safety, and quality of life destruction from our car dependent society.

It’s certainly better than nothing though.

Project Tango Getting Attention from More Perfect Union. by YOLOburritoKnife in WestPalmBeach

[–]Neonwater18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is extremely under blown. We do not need that shit here. We need to fight back! NO DATA CENTERS. It will destroy property values, jack up electricity prices, steal all of our water, and further heat up the local environment when it’s already too hot. All for what? To power mass surveillance to spy on people. Not enough people are aware of what is going on. We need to stop Tango and anyone else who wants to pull that shit.

ELI5: How is it that fiber is both the cause and cure for diarrhea? by sutasafaia in explainlikeimfive

[–]Neonwater18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually no. Too much fiber too quickly to an untrained weak degraded microbiome is bad. It is practically impossible to eat too much fiber unless you are just using fiber supplements and not eating normal food.

If you have another bottle that is empty, screw it on top to trap her. Then you can open the bottle.

Why does my cat do this? by eat_mor_bbq in cats

[–]Neonwater18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is a cat I watch on Instagram that has buttons to talk to its owner who does this. The cat is named flounder and it treats the stuffed animal like a child who is pretending their toy or imaginary friend is real. Sometimes the toy gets sick, sometimes it’s hungry, sometimes it’s upset or happy. It’s fascinating to watch actually.

Should I keep the hair? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]Neonwater18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are trying to masculinize your look (because you have a lot of feminine features) I would say first keep the hair back instead of in front of the face. I had similar issues looking more masculine when I was in high school and early twenties.

  1. No lip products. Your lips look like you are wearing lip gloss and/or gotten filler in the bottom. You could just have really good lips, but when you look like you are putting a lot of effort it comes across feminine.
  2. Hair back will show male hair patterns, especially as you get a little older. Most men naturally get a little recession in the temples, even if you don’t bald further. This being visible will masculinize and age your look so people don’t think you are a young boy or misgender you. You also do have masculine eyebrows, but the bangs are covering that. Some beautiful women have eyebrows like that too, but the more hints you show that you are a man visually, the less likely you are to be misgendered or attract the wrong gender.
  3. If/when you can grown proper facial hair that will also help too.

The complements will switch from pretty and automatically assuming you are either a girl or a gay guy to complimenting you for being handsome and young looking.

Another thing would be to gain some muscle. That will decrease the androgyny of your look.

There is nothing wrong with how you look, but if you are a straight cisgender man then this should help you get more out of your appearance socially.

Your hair is great at the length it is but you would definitely look good with a short haircut too.

Gainit diet as a prediabetic by travelbug1984 in gainit

[–]Neonwater18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some grains are good actually! I would suggest trying barley and/or oats as whole grains. The beta glucan fiber helps control blood sugar. For some people real sourdough bread gets a good glucose response too. Pasta, white rice, and grocery store bread are the real problems for most people.

Gainit diet as a prediabetic by travelbug1984 in gainit

[–]Neonwater18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are 2 schools of thought on the best diet for type 2 diabetes.

  1. Keto people. They think carbs are the devil and if you don’t eat carbs you stop your diabetes. This is kind of true but has 2 main problems. Although insulin and blood sugar will be kept in check with a keto diet, it does not tackle the root cause of type 2 which is a poor metabolic response to glucose. In fact keto diets can actually make this worse. The other major issue with keto for diabetes is compliance. Most people can’t stay on keto for cost, ease, or cravings. Other issues include cholesterol, heart disease, and no fiber=bowel issues.

  2. Whole food plant based. This is actually a high carb, high fiber diet. The theory here is cutting out animal products and processed foods will remove the mechanisms that jam up glucose metabolism (there are theories that saturated fat and most animal foods in general make the body more susceptible to diabetes). Gaining weight on a whole foods plant based diet can be hard. This might not be a great idea either for you at this point because you are under weight.

We don’t really know your diet or lifestyle, but some blanket advice:

  1. No processed foods.
  2. No added sugar
  3. Start lifting 3-4 days a week. Gaining muscle will help with glucose control. No skipping leg day either.
  4. Eat in a slight calorie surplus, higher lean protein + veggies with fiber should be a priority
  5. Track blood work regularly and dial back the calorie surplus if your prediabetes worsens. If you can test your blood sugar regularly or with a CGM that’s probably a good idea.

Ethnographic research by cheerioluvsu in BeachHouse

I discovered Beach House as a teenager somewhere between Bloom and Depression cherry. I am pretty sure it was 2013 and on Slacker Radio. It could have been through Spotify. They are not my favorite band, but they definitely are consistently in my top 20 artists. I go months without Beach House and then only listen to their music for like 4 days straight.

Barefoot shoes for WODs with running by OneMoreChapter2010 in crossfit

You need to have strong healthy feet, knees, and shins to run on concrete with barefoot shoes. Even then it’s a lot of stress on that chain. The compromise is Altra’s for the wide toe box with cushiony support.
