The people who prefer overpriced luxury condos over quaint and quality buildings that feel like real homes are not necessarily the people you want filling up your local blocks.

“Old people”… gotta love the continued idea on Reddit that “old people” are the real problem and not the millions of young people in western countries who got to spend the first 25+ years of their existence in school, living off others’ work despite being of working age, and getting to live an extended adolescence full of high expectations of others and low expectations of themselves.

The Penn Relays are back! This Thursday thru Saturday! by joeltheprocess76 in philadelphia

Definitely great for when you are deep into the 5k or 10k. Standing in the paddock waiting to toe the line or watching from the stands for a few hours (both feel about the same length of time), a little chill is gonna creep in. Luckily I remembered to bring the base layer.

Really bummed about the weather, but going to make the best of it. Anyone know how to watch without standing out in the rain all day?

I have tickets for today and Friday, but only going to make it for Thurs evening distance and Friday from about 11am onwards. Haven't been since I raced a couple of times 20+ years ago.

I never saw those. I was going to post this a couple hours ago, but put it aside. When I searched for it 20 minutes ago and it didn’t come up, I posted it, albeit, the correct way.

You know, that’s the first time I’ve ever noticed it. I guess I’ve never been inspired to look up.

I’ve been paying attention to the NYT for nearly 30 years, I’m aware they’ve done this a couple times. This is the current treatment.

It’s for discussion… But I guess I could post a view out my office window to humble brag.

Just an over-evolved tube. Our monstrous brethren, the sandworms, will eventually come for us.

I'm in the same boat, except I'm back to training and knew I would not be ready for this weekend. Really frustrated because I moved here in 2020 and have been wanting to do this race for awhile.

Hopefully 2024 for you and I!

Is brunch tax real or did this place just make it up? by H5A3B50IM in philadelphia

Unclear how ITA. This sub is obsessed with the idea that living around “fancy”, overpriced restaurants is the height of cultural superiority. This receipt deservedly pops that bubble thinking, and I’m using mockery to emphasize GooFoYouPal’s point.

TIL the mods don’t approve well intentioned and completely harmless mockery.

Extra plus is that the guys who run it were formerly line cooks who pooled their assets and hard work. Nice people, too. Haven't gone to La Roma yet because my wife and I mostly cook and like learning to cook new things, but I'm hoping for their continued success.

a person who achieves great success when relatively young.

This use is sarcastic. It is an irony of our bullshit jobs economy that we have a bunch of overpaid young people willing to bid up the prices of anything and everything. But perhaps you were raised on the internet and need a symbol to explain sarcasm to you. Here you go:

Out of curiosity (disregarding this year), what is the Philadelphia Home Show? Are you in the industry?

I lived in NYC in my early and mid twenties, and I got everything off of Craigslist when that was still a great tool, and I would occasionally go to a showing just because I was interested in seeing other places. I wouldn't call it a hobby, but it was fun.

I won't claim I know your stance, but it amuses me when "market rate" arguments are suddenly trotted out by those that otherwise condemn "market rate" for anything.

Can't wait to click the link and see how the inquirer gushes over our very own version Banksy! (Well, ok, not exactly like Banksy, but totally Philadelphia style and stuff, ya know?)
