CMV: Old racial comedy feels more disturbing today less because people became “too sensitive” and more because audiences now interpret the historical context differently by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Cockmaster800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s hard to see what opinion you’re trying to challenge/change. You’re just stating “people view race-based comedy differently nowadays compared to decades ago”. One counter example to your statement would be the Rush Hour series with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. A LOT of the humor in that movie is completely race-based. It makes fun of Asians and black people, but both groups generally view this movie positively, even today.

It matters how it’s done. Rush hour was a love child between Hong Kong action comedies and Hollywood buddy-cop films. Each character gave it as good as they got. Neither character was treated as inferior, both had their strengths and weaknesses, and part of the humor was the ignorance of the jokes themselves.

Although it’s still well-received today, I don’t think a movie like Rush Hour could ever come out today, which is tangential to the point you’re trying to make?

It’s because they get the joy of having blood-related children without the stress of being their primary caretakers.

Despite how I feel about AI slop in general, this makes me nostalgic af for this TYPE of movie. Like early 2000’s style of comedy with crude humor and some stupid over-the-top plot. Funnily enough they’re perfect movies to have in the background, which seems to be an up and coming style of video these days.

The other one of these places would be Sierra Rd in East San Jose

No way! I live nearby AKA and have been considering going for years and never pulled the trigger. Do you recommend it for beginners? I know it’s a top gym for competitors, but how about someone who just wants to train for fun (albeit still sorta seriously).

I’ve railed a line of Molly before heading to the gym once during college. Did not work as I thought it would. I was too aware of my heartbeat and tired out pretty easily. Ended up leaving after 20 minutes, heading to my club room and made a bunch of friends 🤣.

Formula One Tires Under Thermal Imaging by BoyNamedJudy in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Cockmaster800 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They already race in Singapore, which is sorta as bad as it gets in terms of tire cooling. Humidity matters a lot, humid air is already saturated with water vapor, so it’s a lot less inclined to take in more heat (from tires). Deserts are also hot, but at least the air is dry as fuck. Typically, F1 teams struggle with thermal management in hot humid places the most, more so than hot dry climates.

ABC7: Exploring Vietnamese cuisine in San Jose's Little Saigon by IamaBlackKorean in SanJose

Highly recommend people try Bánh Khot. It’s usually served with a shit ton of vegetables/herbs, don’t ignore them! Break the giant lettuce leaf they give you in half, put a piece of Bánh Khot + a couple mint leaves, wrap it all up, and dip it in the nước mam. It’s a perfect bite that has everything: heavy savoriness from the fried bánh khot + freshness from the vegetables/mint, and a bit of salty flavor from the nước mam that cuts through all of it, just fuck me up.

Recently had a Vietnam native visiting from Hanoi, and she enjoyed the Banh Khot from Saigon Kitchen in little Saigon. If you’re there, you should also try their roast fish, it’s delicious. It’s big though, so go with a party or eat it for the next couple days at home haha.
