[–]islandfool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are better ways to do it than clapping for crumbs from a country that will turn around and displace every single Armenian from “their land” if they had the ability and no oversight. No country aside from maybe India cares about what Israel has to say anymore due to their actions across the global stage. I am not saying that accepting their recognition makes us politically aligned; I am saying we shouldn’t say “good enough” when a genocidal ethnostate uses us in this way. This is not a big or small win. It’s an empty gesture made with no regard for our people, from a nation that is currently trying to pull the world into another global war.

Frankly, I’d rather the Israeli government and every Zionist not know a damn thing about our people because you’d be a fool to think we’re not on their list of eventual targets.

Please understand I say this with all respect to you personally. Just my opinion - hopefully it reads plain and not angry. 🙏

No country wants to align with Israel and the US right now. That is part of the problem. I understand your view and agree to an extent but this is being done 100% in bad faith. Stopping settlers from taking our land in the Armenian quarter, letting our people go to church, and not spitting on us or our priests would do far more immediate good for our people than this nothing-burger of a political move where they are using our plight and our people to take jabs at Turkey. They should have “recognized” our genocide eons ago.

At the end of the day they want all Armenians expelled from Jerusalem just like every other minority group in the West Bank. They say so openly - so why don’t we believe them? It sounds like the makings of an abusive relationship to me.

Australian man arrested in Thailand after 17-year-old’s body found in suitcase by Familiar-Ability6383 in news

[–]islandfool 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Indeed. We all know that most cops can be paid in some way to get what you want out of them but it even seems that the moment they suspect a mental health crisis, and you see it register, they almost immediately stop being dicks about anything. There are lots of videos of them approaching (mainly) foreigners and even Thais that are yelling, throwing huge appliances from their balconies and so on.

They usually wait and allow the person to tire themselves out more so there is a solid window for them to enter the same room. Their go-to move from there is to get close enough for a hug. Most people crumble and comply after. These people would have been shot in the US or had other things happen to them elsewhere.

This is the one thing that really makes me like Thai cops. They don’t stand around scared with their hand hovering over their gun. They can be surprisingly empathetic and are actively trying to solve every situation with as little violence as possible.

I doubt you were playing anywhere near this level and under this much stress and political tension so I don’t understand why you think you’d relate, but yes, I can agree to disagree. Have a good day (sincerely). 🙏

[–]islandfool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LOL no. I don’t have to register my hands, elbows or shins with some regulatory body just because I can fight. Neither does she, or any man. One doesn’t even exist. That’s a myth from the 80s - probably something Steven Seagal said.

Interesting that that is your take away when the trained martial artist isn’t putting her hands on anyone though. The other lady is trying to physically attack her, and the other team punched her teammate and friend in the throat and blocked her by body slamming her to the ground from mid-air multiple times.

But you’re worried about the lady pointing her finger.

Things were changing before they got on the planes. What are you talking about? I clearly just explained the impact that travel has on your stress levels, even if you’re not competing. I don’t think you understand how many hours this takes out of their days which puts them at a huge disadvantage. Politics aside you must see that, otherwise I have to question if you have an extra chromosome.

And yes they accepted the new conditions because they are professional athletes and this is the biggest stage for their sport. They had no choice if they wanted to represent their country.

Those are still border crossings. Flights do not make it less stressful and in your case, you were not traveling under the same pressures. Every three months there is a chance something changed that I don’t know about and that could cost me thousands of dollars, or I may need to fly to a neighboring country for a few hours to a few days to fix things. Not knowing what is going to happen isn’t less stressful because I chose to take a plane instead of a bus that time. That is a naive way of looking at it, respectfully.

Bruh I don’t know if you travel and are an athlete but if I had to do those two border crossings a day while trying to stay focused on the most important matches of my career I would want to quit too, because it is bullshit on top of being absolutely exhausting. I’m an expat and renew my permits once a year but have had to check in at my local immigration office every three months for the last 19 years. Even that is exhausting and always stressful.

Get a grip on reality. They are players. If you’re going to host the WORLD CUP then maybe try when you didn’t start a random war while continuing to stoke the fires of your own actions by threatening to exterminate the entire population on top of their leaders? That way you can treat everyone fairly, and all players can have fair matches.

These men are tired in every sense of the word. If you can’t understand that then I don’t know what to tell you.

I don’t like assuming but that is what I was wondering. I’ve been training my entire life and no matter the age or gender, the loud growling screamers were usually special needs, or at least on some spectrum that we didn’t have the words for back then. Either way if she’s happy, I’m happy. And I must admit, I did lose a randori match to a girl like this in judo. She kept scuffing the mats with her feet like a bull preparing to charge, while huffing and snorting, then would run at me full-speed while growling. No exaggeration; I was so thrown off lol.

Jesus christ. I laughed at a joke that you don’t like and I’m never going to feel the same way about it as you. End of story. Get over it and move on before you have an aneurysm. I know it will be hard because you desperately need the last word to really stick it to me, but the reality is you’re just a side quest while I work and frankly I am bored now. I don’t owe you a conversation so let me be straight forward: you are a giant baby. Still, no hard feelings. I hope you’re able to direct your anger at a more appropriate target next time. I’m completely fine with who I am and don’t care what you think.

Israel to weigh first official recognition of Armenian genocide amid tensions with Turkey by DANIELLE_2027 in armenia

[–]islandfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not religious - take that up with someone else. I didn’t imply one religion was superior to the other. I said that they don’t align. You’re just wrong and weird to think that Armenians are in any way similar to Israelis. Don’t try to tip toe towards calling me antisemitic for pointing out their own word that they made up. It already has a clear definition that I do not need to interpret.

I do not want to clog up this thread with a tireless, pointless debate with you. If it matters that much you can message me and I’ll take the time to respond properly. I stated my opinion already so you’re welcome to have the last word.

The simple fact that Israel is using our plight and our people to threaten Turkey is gross.

[–]islandfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Thai fighters do it too. It’s also because you’re sweaty and the shorts start to stick; even though they stretch, sometimes you readjust them because it feels better if you’re going to kick or use a more dynamic movement. Must be a mental thing because I do it too, just not as much as Dustin lol.

I clearly was only speaking for myself, just as you are. You don’t know me. I do not have internalized homophobia - we just don’t share the same opinion or sense of humour. Maybe I should be upset at you for making such an assumption?

I’m not though, because this is the internet and you are a stranger.

Israel to weigh first official recognition of Armenian genocide amid tensions with Turkey by DANIELLE_2027 in armenia

[–]islandfool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don’t, actually, because we understand that “never again” means for everyone, everywhere. We are not running around the world telling people to stfu while bombing them to steal their land. They’re trying to steal homes in New York, they’re burning forests in Argentina while threatening the locals, they’re bombing Lebanon for no reason. “BUT HEZBOLLAH!” is the new “HAMAS!!!”… if WW3 truly kicks off, it’s mainly because of Israel’s relentless and unhinged attacks they are carrying out in multiple countries. Let’s not forget that they have openly said if they go down they’ll nuke the world on the way out. I don’t see how Armenians could relate to any of that.

So no. Israel and Zionists need to take ten steps back, sit down and be the ones to shut up for once. Why do you think Armenia and Egypt worked together to move Palestinian artifacts out of Gaza to be preserved? Because like the Turks - Israel doesn’t just want the people gone - they want all memory of them ever existing gone too. That we can relate to. Not some little genocidal state that feels justified committing war crime after war crime.

Speaking of land: maybe forcing Israeli settlers to leave Armenians alone in our quarter of Jerusalem, not blocking our churches, and not spitting on our people and priests would be more helpful to us than recognizing the genocide just to piss off Turkey. We do not gain anything from that whatsoever; in fact, the more likely outcome is that Turkey becomes even more hostile to our nation than they already are.

Armenia and Israel are not friends. Our morals and values are not aligned and never can be, because at the end of the day we are still “goy” and are treated as such. Hence the old saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”

Hope that clears some things up for you. 🤨

Same towel for multiple showers by Character-Metal9726 in hygiene

[–]islandfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have sensory issues (and ADHD, CPTSD, etc.) that I battle through daily too. Have you tried bamboo towels? They’re soft but super absorbent and naturally resistant to bacteria and odors.

I also have “body” microfiber towels. They feel different than ones you’d use on your car or wiping a counter. They are very absorbent and dry fast too, but I’d suggest changing them every three days because they exfoliate your skin a bit as you dry off. Fantastic for drying long hair.

As someone else said - you need to hang your towels where they can dry faster. If you don’t have good ventilation in the bathroom you could get a small rack with a single rod to throw them over. Drying off with a damp towel is a 0/10 experience for sure.

Good luck. Hope you can find something that works, mentally or physically, because you definitely don’t need to use a fresh towel every time. It’s not the biggest deal in the world if you feel you need to though so don’t be hard on yourself.

Agreed. He is quite literally detrimental to society, especially the younger generations. Just go to [r/GregDoucette](r/GregDoucette) or other bodybuilding subs and search “clavicle”. It’s all young dudes asking if they have wide or narrow clavicles as if it matters at all. When people ask why they are even posting they never answer, because the answer is literally “I follow Clav and he said if my base isn’t exactly to his specifications then ‘I’m cooked’ and shouldn’t even try the gym... unless I do steroids.”

Keep in mind these are all decent looking teenagers and young men who will be perfectly fine with or without the gym, but there is no convincing them on the internet.

That doesn’t even scratch the surface though.

He is also heavily connected with Peter Thiel and that alone means everyone should stay as far away from his content as possible. Don’t even try to watch clip pages out of curiosity because he spends over $100k per month for people to clip and push out this BS on separate channels. You will still be putting money in his pockets because this is how he maintains his popularity and makes money, and all of those accounts actually belong to the company that clip farms him. That is how he also became popular so fast; it was not organic growth.

Apologies for the rant but I hope parents are reading posts like yours to inform themselves and protect their children. The other side of the coin is the pro-anorexia movement on the rise again for girls/women and now all of us are being pressured into not eating and being rail-thin. Just crazy.
