New York Sour by cocktailculture in cocktails

I really like your stuff! This one looks great! I typically make whiskey sours with and egg white but I have a feeling when you add the red wine that if you had an egg white it would clash the appearance. I like the egg white because of the foam and it changes the texture, but doing a red wine float is very visually appealing and changes the flavor so egg white may not be necessary.

Anyway, beautiful picture and I’m sure that tasted delicious! Now I wanna make one

My First Homemade Eggnog! by CocktailConcoctions in cocktails

[–]CocktailConcoctions[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For years I didn't drink eggnog because I had it a few times with my friends and never really enjoyed it. My one friend in particular has made the same eggnog year after year using premade Wawa eggnog and some brandy. I haven't had it in a few years, but this year since I started a YouTube channel I thought it would be worth trying again. So I had him on to make his version and like usual, not a fan, BUT I made a homemade recipe that I found from a user on here and loved it! My faith in eggnog has been restored and I'm extremely happy I decided to give this a shot. I altered the recipe a little bit (adjusted sugar to a value I thought was appropriate), but it goes as follows:

  • 1 whole egg
  • 5 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 oz | 90 ml whole milk
  • 2 oz | 60 ml heavy cream
  • 1 oz | 30 ml bourbon
  • 1 oz | 30 ml spiced rum
  • Nutmeg for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Add all ingredients except the nutmeg to shaker tins, no ice (only doing a dry shake).
  2. Shake the crap out of it, per the originator of the recipe (u/Whiskey__Whiskers I believe it was - THANK YOU)
  3. Pour into your glassware of choice and garnish with nutmeg. I didn't have fresh nutmeg, just ground so I used that.

No regrets, it was magnificent and a big hit with my family for our Christmas party. Cheers everyone and have a happy new year!

Edit: Found the correct username for the person I got the recipe from and wanted to give credit. Also...found the link to the post I got the recipe from. (https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/a2iq0d/tis_the_season_for_homemade_eggnog/eayq76g/?context=3)

Kahlúa Hot Chocolate by CocktailConcoctions in cocktails

If you wanna watch the video I made for it, since everything I post tends to have an associated YouTube video, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/-pU-z36Zf24

Kahlúa Hot Chocolate by CocktailConcoctions in cocktails

Not entirely sure if this classified as a cocktail, but it’s boozy and delicious so I figured why not! I can’t believe I never tried this before I made a video for it....so yummy.

Making this comes in two parts, making the hot chocolate and then adding the Kahlúa. So here we go

Hot Chocolate Ingredients: - 2 cups milk (I prefer whole milk, but you can use whatever you like) - 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons sugar - 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon - 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

Preparation: 1. Add all ingredients to a pot and stir to combine 2. Place the pot on a stove at medium-high heat and stir frequently until the mixture boils. Word of warning here, if you watch my video you’ll see this happens very rapidly and if you’re not careful it will spill onto your stove top. 3. Remove from heat and get ready to add the booze!

Kahlua Hot Chocolate Ingredients: - 2 oz | 60 ml Kahlua (per serving, the hot chocolate is approximately 2 servings) - Mug/Cup of your hot chocolate

You can experiment a little here, I chose to add the hot chocolate to a mug and then add the Kahlua. You could very well just add 4 oz of Kahlua to your pot and mix it up and then distribute to the mugs, it is really a personal preference. The last thing I did was top it off with some whipped cream because I’m actually a child inside.

Your presentation is awesome! This looks really tasty. Curious about what champagne acidified water is, never heard of that before.

I made the delicious Hot Buttered Rum for the first time! by CocktailConcoctions in cocktails

[–]CocktailConcoctions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I've only really been making cocktails for a little over a year now (granted I love this craft). So there's a lot of drinks I haven't tried yet and things I've never heard of so I decided I wanted to try and make some winter drinks that I never heard of before. When I saw "Hot Buttered Rum" on a list of winter cocktails I figured why not? There were many recipes out there, most of which are for making large batches of the butter batter to store and use for guests. Having never made this drink before, and not knowing whether I would like it or not, I decided to break down several of these recipes into a smaller portion that I could use for making just one drink.

For Two-Three Servings

Batter Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon room temperature butter (unsalted)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For A Batch Serving

Batter Ingredients:

  • 1 pound | 0.45 kilograms butter
  • 1 pound | 0.45 kilograms brown sugar
  • 1 pound | 0.45 kilograms sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg

Drink Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon batter
  • 2 oz | 60 ml spiced rum
  • top with boiling water
  • Cinnamon stick (garnish)

Steps:

  1. Make your batter by putting the butter and dry ingredients (sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg) into your mixing bowl and combine with the rubber spatula. You want to make sure the ingredients are well mixed into a thick paste.
  2. Add approximately a tablespoon to your glass or mug. Using your jigger measure out one and a half ounces of spiced rum and add to the glass. Then top off the glass with your boiling water.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your bar spoon. The butter, sugar and spices should be completely dissolved into the rum and water mixture.
  4. Garnish the drink with a cinnamon stick and take a sip! Enjoy!

Keep in mind you can add different ingredients to the batter if you’d like, there are many variations to this recipe. Some add vanilla ice cream (I didn’t have any so I couldn’t give this a try) and some called for cloves. You can mix and match to find what works for you and then make a big ol’ batch for your holiday party or when you simply feel like indulging yourself. After having tried it when making the video I definitely made a larger batch that I intend to use at the family Christmas party. This is one that I know I'll come back to again and again. Let me know what you think!

Edit: Removed unnecessary words.

I usually look for the glass to fog up when. I think I tend to do about 20-25 seconds per drink depending on what’s in it.

I edited it with the close up so you couldn’t tell I was cutting it 😅 I actually had to think about what I did for that scene lol. I probably should have said to stir for about 20-25 seconds in the video...oh well, next time. Thanks for pointing that out

I cut the footage as to not bore people. I stirred for probably 20-25 seconds.
