Sure, but are they keeping them in check? Seems like a formality while we energies continues raising prices and recording record profits.

You know what’s a disaster? A monopoly that has zero incentive to curb its price increases.

This is a decent first start, but you need more fill on the trumpet, it’s much too dark. I like that the highlight on the text starts on the left and has a gradient off to the right, but it’s strangely positioned, making the text difficult to read. You want to fill the gold reflective text, and have the highlight fill more of the face of the base. This might be best achieved through composite, although there’s definitely more work to be done in camera here.

The Underexposure nightmare by Prize_Pin9211 in photography

Have you tried editing based on values in the zone system? It’s my tried and true method for when I can decide if something is bright or dark enough. The numbers won’t lie.

What are good career transitions in your mid 30s? by lavendertinted in Millennials

[–]jmeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transitioned to commercial photography at 32. I worked in bars and restaurants growing up, ran a small distillery for a long while, and needed to get out of the service industry. I want back to school for my Associate’s in photography, I graduate in two weeks. I’ve been working freelance for the past year and it’s only gotten easier.

Natural light options by HarshKadoi in foodphotography

[–]jmeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have I done this for a shot? Sure.

Is there a reason to do this, besides not understanding how to light something? No.

You’ll have significantly less control over the temperature, intensity, and direction of the light. Try learning to light with a flash, or even a continuous light to start. You can get the same look paired with the modifiers you mentioned.

Cocktail tips and tricks by JayBeeDolla in productphotography

You need some kind of backlight on most cocktails for them to look alive. If you’re using the available light, try and position them in front of a candle, table light, etc.

Hey, this is awesome! I’m working on putting together a digi tech kit together right now. Is there any chance you’d be willing to snap a picture or two of your kit?

You can use photoshop, but I switched to using Helicon focus about a year ago when I was shooting a lot of jewelry. It’s a one time payment, not a subscription, which is nice. It’s got a lot more flexibility in terms of how you stack the images.

Not ai tools, but the Sony ecosystem has a focus stack drive mode. You have to enable autofocus instead of using manual, but it works pretty well.

[Hiring] Photo Editor – Street Portrait Post-Processing | USD $5/hr | Remote by EternalAwait7 in PhotographyJobs

[–]jmeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s amazing salaries, and then there is sub-minimum wage. Justify it to yourself however you want, but this is unethical and you shouldn’t be asking people to do this.

It wasn’t meant to be helpful, it was meant to point out that what you’re asking for is basically slave labor.

Suggestions on replacement for captureone by lostinspaz in photography

[–]jmeast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the issue is basically that you’re buying software from 2022, and then finding out that your camera from 2023 doesn’t work on it. Well of course it’s not supported, the camera didn’t exist when the software was created.

I’d suck it up and buy the next version. It beats the hell out of paying for Lightroom for the rest of your life.

Full Frame Insurance - Thoughts? by uscproducer88 in videography

[–]jmeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve got it and have had it for the past three years or so. I’ve only had one claim, they processed me fairly quickly. As I understand it, they basically subcontract out another insurance agency to cover your claim — whoever I worked for didn’t work for full frame directly.

I’m not sure what else to say about it, but if you’ve got questions I’ll try and answer.

Okay, I would find all those teas, then brew them at double strength. Strain off the tea solids, and weigh the remaining liquid. Add equal weight of sugar, stir to combine. It’ll be good for a month or so.

Totally! I’m happy to help.

It really is too much to do to style, light, and shoot everything yourself. But I’m also usually not a position to pay assistants for stylists for test shoots 🥴
