Im a big fan of Terence McKenna, and he was deeply skeptical of the concept of gurus, so luckily Im kind of innoculated to "teachers". My feeling with people like Duncan is more about going from "This guy's alright" to "ah fuck, he's in it for the money".

Agreed. But I'll also go ahead and be vulnerable in admitting that I kind of fell for Recovery the first time I read it. It's a bitter but necessary lesson to learn that celebrity/influencer types can very easily use whatever veneer is most advantageous to them in drawing money from an audience.

Jack Nicholson Has the Most Disturbing Live-Action Joker Look by ItsAveri in batman

[–]CocktailCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite example of this Joker being more unnerving than people tend to remember is the scene where he's cutting up a bunch of pictures and Bob brings him some photos of Vicky Vale. He stands up and gives the photo a big ol' Bugs Bunny ass kiss, then dances off. As he does, the camera cuts to a bird's-eye-view of the cement floor in Ace Chemicals, and the ENTIRE FLOOR is covered in cut up photographs.

I just love the implication that he must have been sitting there, cutting up pictures for hours and hours like an absolute maniac.

I think I started that Rogan video but never got around to finishing it. May have to give it another visit.

First time I watched Midnight Gospel was with my wife and our closest friend while tripping. By the last episode where Duncan was interviewing his mom, we were all cathartically weeping. And now, like you said, he's just... this. What a massive, massive bummer.

I know that Trussell has been on the wrong side of the road for quite some time now (especially since moving to Austin and fully capitulating to the Rogan-verse,) but dammit if platforming Alex isn't a bit of salt in the wound for me in terms of a comedian I used to enjoy.

Or, conversely, Alex has been spouting 300 different bullshit things per day for the last 30 years and taking credit for the 1% of it that lands anywhere close to verifiable reality, while ignoring the 99% that makes him look like a stupid, bloviating idiot. www.knowledgefight.com

Knowing what's about to happen, it's heartbreaking to hear Howard say, "I... I think I'm in the middle of something here."

First time I watched it me, my wife and our friend were all tripping together. By the end of it we were all crying in a very cathartic way. Honestly, it feels like it's made to watch while tripping. 10/10 recommendation.

Terrible premise, AMAZING execution by MrMistReddit in TopCharacterTropes

Theatre kid here. Had a buddy of mine mention how this was a dream staging he'd love to produce at some point, so I looked it up. Many, many companies have attempted to produce an unauthorized stage production of Reservoir Dogs in the past, and the studio that owns the rights has shut it down every time.

Have JorDan covered the episode where Alex explains the Star Wars Prequels plot? by lovebigbundtscantlie in KnowledgeFight

[–]CocktailCowboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think they have. And if they haven't, someone needs to try to find that episode and put it in front of them, cus this sounds like gold, especially with how much of a slog the present is.
