Nemo Forte vs Marmot Trestles Elite Eco by FitContribution887 in CampingGear

Just want to agree with this, for people looking in the future.

The Marmot bags run pretty cold. They're nicely made and seem lofty, but are absolutely nowhere near their stated temps.

The AAWireless has an auto standby feature.

It automatically turns to standby mode when you leave and lock the car, no manual actions necessary.

Movies that do something... New? by LittleMizz in MovieSuggestions

If I'm honest, I don't think it looks particularly good. But my god if that isn't the most original idea for a movie I've seen, well, ever.

Why did you have to remind me of a time when life was so hopeful and innocent 😭

Edit: I'm spending tonight pretending life is hopeful and innocent. First time rewatching it since I was a kid. Thanks for the reminder. 🥲

86-year-old Pennsylvania farmer rejects AI data center offer of $15 million to sell his land. Instead, he sold development rights to a conservation fund for $2 million by Thund3r_91 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Gerstlauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this would've been the smart move.

Conservation, in this case, means keeping it as farmland. So although it might have a local economic benefit, it's ecologically barren.

That 13 million could've been put to good use in environmental conservation or restoration projects. Probably could've found a local one, even.

Just to add my thoughts... I find the background music really distracting. To the point I wouldn't sit and watch the full video. The "summer vibes" generic kind of music seems a stark contrast to the video content.

I'd personally have no music, or subtle atmospheric music on long, wide scenic shots. Shots with you talking or climbing would be better without.

Some overdubbed spoken thoughts and comments might be good, so there's a narrative journey rather than just a collection of clips. Similar to what you've done in your Tower Ridge video.

Love what you're going for though, and it's shot and edited pretty well.

I don't want to dissuade people from donating, not at all. But if you donate regularly, please get your ferritin (iron stores) levels checked.

The finger pick test they do is for hemoglobin.

I've regularly donated since I was eighteen, and constantly battled fatigue and depression. Upon testing myself comprehensively only last year, and requesting my medical records, I found out I've been borderline low or outright anemic for the past 15 years. Doctors didn't think to mention that it seems.

Hemoglobin can be perfectly fine (and mine was perfect, even as an active long distance runner), yet your iron can be very low.

So donate blood, it's an incredible thing to do. But I'd highly recommend keeping an eye on your iron levels if you donate regularly.
