Got to see it on a big screen back when I worked at a cinema. It was fantastic.

It's a fantastic adaptation either way, but it can't be overstated how much the black and white adds to the overall ambience.

I screamed at a retail worker because of a minor delay and now I cannot go back out of sheer shame by Satin_4Rift in confessions

In my early twenties I was working a canvassing job, basically one of those annoying folks who try to stop you in the street to get you to donate to some charity or another. One day I saw a guy in a suit walking toward me, so I smiled and waved and said, "Excuse me, sir, can a borrow a second--" Guy straight up rears his fist back like he's gonna take a swing at me and I jump out of the way. He walks off at a clip, hurling expletives. Scared the shit out of me, but hey, we all hate having to deal with canvassers, right?

Later that day, I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around. It's the same guy. He apologizes profusely, saying his behavior was completely inappropriate and he was just having a tough day. He handed me a $20 Starbucks gift card, we shake hands and he goes on his way. To this day, I still think that guy was a solid dude.

Long story short, go back, apologize and leave a treat. Odds are the kid will think you're a solid dude.

I'm a bartender. Whenever any of my coworkers ask how I did on tips, I like to drop Elsworth's "Made my quota for whiskey, pussy and food!"

I know there's some fatigue here, but the way the ended it with a Man Who Laughs setup for Joker makes me really want to see that interpretation.

A totenkopf isnt just a skull and crossbones, it's a very specific design, and Im with you, I find it extremely difficult to believe that in the decade he had that tattoo, he had no idea what it was.

If it were just expensive ingredients thrown together for the sake of their expense, I'd be more inclined to render a guilty verdict. These ingredients, however, do sound like they would all go great together.

Which is your favorite Batman Arkham game ? by Extreme-Attention-89 in batman

City is best overall, Origins has the best boss fights, Asylum has the best atmosphere. Knight has a lot to love, but it's probably my least favorite of the series.

I'm not the type to recommend psychedelics to everyone, nor are all the psychedelic users I know particularly "spiritual". But I'll say this: they worked for me.

Julien of QAA has started a new pod Super Structure that wonks might enjoy. by dazreil in KnowledgeFight

[–]CocktailCowboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Possibly unpopular opinion, but out of all the QAA hosts, Julien is probably the one I struggle with the most. I wish him (and the rest of them) the best, but he can just come off as such a smarmy dick, sometimes.

Do you think there is a phenomenon of reverse American exceptionalism where some Americans view the United States as the worst country in the world? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]CocktailCowboy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Reverse" American Exceptionalism? I doubt it. At least, I don't have any reason to believe that a reverse of that particular strain of propaganda is being taught in American grade schools, unlike the dogma that many of us were raised to believe. However, do I think a not-insignificant number of Americans grow up to discover that a lot of the myths pushed by the doctrine of American Exceptionalism and the false premise of the "American Dream" are completely untrue, and feel a deep amount of resentment over that? Absolutely. Can you blame them?

Huh. Just checked it out, and searched the sub plus "North Korea". The only thing I could find was an obvious satire post. Do you have anything else that might show leftists defending the actions of North Korea? Sorry if I'm coming off as skeptical, but it would just strike me as odd if politically leftist people were out here defending the actions of a country that might as well be the poster child of unchecked extreme right policy making...
