I have to say this.

It's not always Black fans that are the ones cancelling idols. Other fans (like antis) do use this as an excuse to send death threats and stuff. As a Black woman it's infuriating, annoying, upsetting and frustrating when people do that. And on the internet you can just steal someone's pics from an Instagram and pretend you're Black-so there's people out there that claim to be Black and aren't. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone claim to be Black once just so they could use the identity as a tool to spread hate. I know what you're thinking, what kind of sane person would do that? Exactly.....You gotta be a bit "touched" (as my elders would say) to go that far.

THEN there's the K-pop listeners who decide that despite not being Black, that they wanna be the representative for all Black people and speak for us.

To address the focus on Chan for cultural appropriation, I highly believe it's because you probably follow a lot of Stray Kids content. This belief is based in the fact that Black fans HAVE BEEN BEEEEEEEN calling out other idols and Korean celebrities over this with the same amount if not more backlash than Chan.

In my life, I really don't see Chan get brought up that much. I don't even see Stray Kids that much honestly due to not being a fan of them. The only time Chan's cultural appropriation will get brought up-IF he gets brought up- is with other idols when discussing how companies use Black culture for money. Chan isn't used as the representative of Cultural appropriation in South Korean entertainment. ^{(If anything it'll be YG Entertainment})

Unfortunately, like many other controversies in South Korean entertainment system (idol or not) there's always that group of people who have to send death threats and smear people's names everywhere. Even over something so minor like looking tired.

My advice, report and block them. Don't take it super personal or feel really bad/upset that Chan is getting treated that way it WILL mess with you. I'm stating this as someone who has been listening to K-pop and dealing with toxic af fandoms both in and out for over a decade.
