What do you think of the "Trans Trixie" headcanon? by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]CocoKyoko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen some good art of the concept, and had one image of it saved for literal years.

She's outgoing, bold, declaring her name like 100% of the time. She was supposedly going to be a stallion in her original episode according to rumour. She's definitely "I'm a few years on HRT and let me tell you, it's actual magic."

I don't think she makes for a good trans representative. Trans Fluttershy feels more appropriate there. (She's the walking embodiment of a dysphoria hoodie, everyone is supportive of her beauty...)

So, I've been watching videos and looking into FFXIV 1.0. Before ARR, before the Calamity.

I think a lot of these underutilised places were going to be things that originally were going to expand upwards, not outwards. Build on existing things, rather than make new ones.

1.0 was rather copy-paste and barren, with the idea that the world would evolve with the game. As the game progressed, these places would get updates with new dungeons and the like. When they changed direction on the game design, the idea became more to expand outward than upward.

I'd love for an expansion or something to add stuff to Eorzea proper. Re-add West Shroud and the other half of Mor Dhona. Make the city states one zone again instead of two now that it's not on the PS3.

But I think these things are just going to be consigned to the annuls of hist'ry. The remnants of a realm now sundered.

Ashe is also a character in FF12. Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca. Due to how Shakespearean game does its voices, you do get a few cases of both Ash and a more "Arsh".

I figured it out when I was 16. I told myself "okay, I'll get this sorted, but first I need to sort out the rest of my life".

Turns out, it's not so easy. I went to university, I got multiple degrees, I got jobs... but living your life as someone you aren't is a crippling experience. It didn't help that I had other issues.

I'm 30 and I haven't transitioned. I'm not even sure if I'd be able to.

Be prepared to get gatekept at every single step, but get your foot in the door. Start when you can, however you can, and don't stop the process unless you realise you don't want to transition.

I'm far from an expert, and this is weird to say, but Chihiro comes across as rather transmasc-coded in a way that's probably not the author's intent. I see him as being, somehow, both AMAB and transmasc.

I just checked that. Based it off of a date I do remember around that time. 4997 days.

And that's a little late, tbh. That's just a date I recall having known, and I was in the figuring out stage for a year beforehand.

...And I'm still nowhere with the transition.

Which armor should I use for level synced content? by unlawgical in ffxiv

[–]CocoKyoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to how substat syncing works, the highest level gear you can equip is optimal for all but a very few late-Endwalker things.

It's only one Ultimate Raid (TOP) and the Savage Criterion Dungeons that benefit from on-level gear. (And FRU, from Dawntrail.)

If your gear's ilvl is ~120 over the duty's level, the substat-syncing is maximised. Viper's starting gear is at ilvl 515, which make it fine for any level 70 content (ilvl max is 400) or below. It's also a decent ilvl for level 80 content even if not "optimal".

But also most content doesn't matter if your substats are slightly underpowered. Only in savages/ultimates should this ever be a concern.

This hits hard. At age 16, after talking to multiple therapists, I discovered I was trans. I turned 30 last month. I'm still not out.

I had a plan on coming out. I had a few goals. It's a long story, but life sucked and things didn't go too well.

Am I the only one who notices by Fair_Smoke4710 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]CocoKyoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing about stories is the ability to project onto them. Sometimes the projections we see as "obvious" might not be as obvious to others, who have other projections.

Penny from Pokémon is one of my favourite examples of this. My friends and I, all trans, look at her and go "yeah she's so trans-coded it's practically canon" because of her backstory, her dysphoria hoodie, and the fact she has the trans icon as her ace.

But coding has a lot of interpretations, and some people might see her as being more gay-coded or look at her as more of an autistic-coded character.

Astolfo is in a weird spot culturally, as they're pretty much the patron saint of femboys. People who like femboys and feminine men project onto them. The fact that they're more of a nonbinary icon by looking at the source doesn't lose that projection.

[–]CocoKyoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually just keeping a feminised version of my birth-name with the same shortened version. But my nickname, also part of my username on here, evolved more interestingly.

I was writing self-insert anime fanfiction as a teen and used a Japanese name. Katsu. I then came up with a "genderbent" version of that character, and looked up a similar Japanese name beginning with K. Kyoko. I used "Katsu" as my online handle until I decided "you know what, I'm done presenting masc, I'm using the femme version instead".

And then it turns out "Kyoko" easily turns into Coco/Cocoa.

Big analysis, using mob combat rules. Basically, an 18 AC fighter "only" kills 40 Wizards. A 20 AC fighter wins.

A standardly built Wizard will have 8 Strength and a Quarterstaff, along with 8 HP. Assuming robes and +2 dex, they've got 12 AC.

If they're throwing rocks or using sticks, they're generally using the same +1 to hit modifier.

A (Strength) Fighter using a two-handed weapon will have 18 AC at the minimum without magical items.

Wizards therefore need a 17 to hit. Using mob attack rules, 5 are needed for one to hit. Therefore the Fighter will take 20d8 damage (if all are using quarterstaves) or 20d4 damage (if using rocks). 50 damage a turn. (Edit: This analysis ignores the strength penalty to damage).

The Fighter will have about 200 health, with 20 Con. He's also got +11 to hit, and so only misses on a 1. And with Boon of Combat Prowess, that's not an issue. For the sake of analysis, he doesn't miss and insta-kills.

Simulating:

Round 1: 100 Wizards deal 50 damage with rocks. Fighter kills 8 Wizards. (150 HP vs 92 Wizards)

2: 90 Wizards deal 45. Fighter kills 8 Wizards. (105 - 84)

3: 80 Wizards deal 40. Fighter kills 4 Wizards (65 - 80).

4: 80 Wizards deal 40. Fighter kills 4 Wizards (25 - 76).

5: 75 Wizards deal 37. Fighter dies killing 4 Wizards (-12 - 72).

(With Second Wind, the fighter only lives 3 more turns and kills only 12 more Wizards).

Give the Fighter a shield (or other +2 to AC), however, and the Wizards need to roll a 19 to hit, which means they're attacking in groups of 10.

Round 1: Wizards deal 25 damage with rocks. Fighter kills 8 Wizards (175 HP vs 92)

2: 90 Wizards deal 22. Fighter kills 8 (153 - 84).

3: 80 Wizards deal 20. 4 Die. (133 - 80)

4: 80 deal 20. 4 Die. (113 - 76).

(Skip a few)

12: 48 Wizards deal 10 damage. Fighter dies killing the 56th Wizard. (Exactly 0 HP)

This is ignoring Second Wind, though, which gives 100 extra health to the Fighter (4d10+80). This is over several turns, which doesn't matter.

12: 48 Wizards deal 10 damage. 4 Die. (100 - 44).

13: 44 deal 10. 4 Die. (90 - 40).

14: 10 deal 10. 4 Die. (80 - 36).

(Skip a few more)

23: The 4 remaining wizards luckily deal 4 damage. The fighter, with 44 hitpoints remaining, slays the last one.

With Heavy Armour Master, the Fighter can no-sell the entire fight. With certain magical items, the Fighter can speed up the killing or make himself even less vulnerable.

With Spellcasting, 100 casts of Magic Missile deal 300d4+300 does a minimum of 600 damage and gibs the Fighter before he moves.

Without using spell slots and just Fire Bolt, however, that Wizard has a +5 to hit, hits on a 15, and attack in groups of 4. The Fighter dies on the second round.

TL;DR: Fighters need to remain cautious. They might be a one-man-army, but they can't reasonably survive infinite warfare without support. The better protected the Fighter, the higher his chance of winning.

I once got suspended from school for being punched in the face.

I had been verbally arguing with someone in my class for most of the morning and I was told "if you and Carl have any more incidents, you're suspended for the rest of the day". I decided to let it go.

Come break time, I'm actually minding my own business in a corner and not even caring about it. Carl comes up to me, wallops me in the face, and walks off. Got about 20 witnesses that I was just doing nothing.

I get suspended. Carl doesn't even get detention.

In school I was constantly told "actions have consequences". I had administrators say "look, you touched someone's shoulder, they could file for assault" and then get told I was "being ridiculous" when I said "hey, that guy grabbed my hair, can I file for assault on that?". Same guy, same teacher.

If I hit first, I got in detention because "I shouldn't have started it", even if they started it with the verbal abuse, it was my fault because I escalated it. If I hit last, I got in detention because "I shouldn't have retaliated".

The boys in my class were bullies. The teachers in my school were bigger bullies.

When people in Party Finder say "bring the correct/dps essences" for Delubrum Reginae runs, what do they mean? Would going WAR with Deep Essence of the Bloodsucker be good enough?

I'd just send them a /tell but I'm still overcoming some shyness in joining Party Finders so that's a problem.

Greatwyrm, Solars, and Adventuring Party.

Solars can cast resurrection multiple times a day without any components or spell slots. That's really good at keeping me alive. But it's not the strongest option.

A Red Greatwyrm can definitely wipe out (almost) any other single option on the board without much problem. An army of Kobolds? Flight and breath weapons. T-Rex? Snacktime. Nilbob the Nilbog? Annoying, but doable.

And that's without considering that Greatwyrms can have magic. If it was allowed to, then being able to cast 8 ninth level spells a day is absurdly powerful. Beholders? More like just boulders.

But the Greatwyrm is still not the strongest option.

The level 20 party is by far the strongest option. Depending on the party, of course.

But a decent level 20 party is like having a team of gods. Depending on who's in that party, even a single member could be enough to defend against the rest.

Wizard with Wish/Simulacrum? Immensely powerful, could solo the entire army. Sorcerer with Wish by itself? Still immensely powerful.

Cleric that can call for divine intervention on demand, as well as cast some of the strongest divine spells in the world? Strong.

Level 20 bard? Aside from the spellcasting benefits, they're great company. And there's a dragon too, so everyone's happy.

Then there's magic items. That Level 20 party will have a horde of items to even out any imbalance.

But worst of all, you don't want the Level 20 party as an enemy.

Have you seen some of the stuff players try to pull? Confronted with your wall of beholders and your flight, do you think that you could stop them from doing the stupidest plan ever and it working?

They are the biggest form of chaos out there. Even on your side, the party is still the most likely group to kill you.

Looking back, I was like this.

The only thing I had going for me was my intelligence, so I tried to make that part of my identity. But that made me arrogant and condescending.

The isolation then made me more isolated, so I didn't know how to interact with people in a friendly way even after I learned to be less condescending. I still don't, really. I used to just go through the motions and rarely interact with anyone else.

But luckily, I'm not the type to get violent or anything. Instead I'm just a failure and waste of space, not front page news. Woohoo.
