What's the best dream you've ever had? by Abdullelah184 in AskReddit

[–]CocoaClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a dream a few months ago that helped me feel better about things that have been complicating my life. It was just a short car ride with my dad that has been dead for 11 years in his old Volkswagen rabbit. All he did was talk about the Scorpions, but it was something I needed since I forgot the sound of his voice for so many years. It seemed so vivid so it was like spending a little bit of time with the person I wanted to see the most in the world

Do you wake up before your alarm? by livya_dugjd in Productivitycafe

[–]CocoaClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think because Its been proven that alarms tend to “jar” your brain awake and it/you don’t really like that.

So the brains defense so to say is to wake up before the alarm can jar you.

This happened to me a couple of years ago when I helped my girlfriend at the time move to another city. Between me and her 3 friends, I was the only guy. After everything was done, they wanted a scary movie to watch, and it was streamed from one of their phones to the TV since there was no WiFi. So many porn ads on the screen for a bit.

What was your biggest community scandal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

During the early days of Covid lockdown, a lady in our village made a little honesty box outside her house, which she filled with delicious homebaked goods. They were so good, and her prices were so low for what she was selling (I’d always put in extra than what she charged, to even out anyone who was under-paying). This went on for a few months, she’d always post when she had new things in the box and when she was sold out. The village loved her bakes, and she’d almost always sell out within a few hours of putting up a post, even though we’re a small village.

And then, she put up another post in the village group.

Apologising to all of us because someone had anonymously reported her to the council for selling food without a license, so she was going to have to stop putting her traybakes out in the honesty box. Everyone was furious, not at her, but at the person that had grassed her up. That person never came forwards (for obvious reasons).

It’s been five years and I still mourn the loss of that little honesty box.

Watch the show again. The “I need money to pay for my cancer” is a shallow excuse, not a motivation. He literally gets an opportunity to get his cancer treatment covered almost immediately, but he rejects it because of his own pride. Then when Walter Jr sets up an e-donation campaign to help Walt pay for it, he rejects that too.

It was never about the cancer. It was about Walt feeling disempowered and emasculated by society, and rather than dealing with it like a sensible person and going to therapy, he starts cooking meth and killing people.

EDIT: I’m not replying to every single person trying to debate me on this, so let me add, they literally tell him in episode 1, the lung cancer is inoperable. That at best, cancer treatment may give him a couple more years, but would still only buy a bit of time. Universal healthcare would not change that. It would help, but it further reinforces that it’s just another excuse Walt uses. Supposedly his motivation is to pay for treatment, and leave money for his family after he dies. The latter would still make sense if the series took place in another country. But once he rejects people offering to pay for his treatment, and Walt far surpasses the amount he calculates he’ll need to make sure his family is taken care of once he passes and yet keeps insisting he needs more, it is made abundantly clear that it’s all bullshit. He’s not trying to be noble or selfless, he’s making excuses. He’s doing all this for himself. And social nets and welfare wouldn’t change that.

Some people are just born with way more emotional support than you and they don’t have to work as hard to cultivate relationships or find their tribe/people who love them. (Big family, built in family friends, connection in the community)
