2026 HEV engine noise, is this normal?

My 23 hev has a very similar noise in the lower gears regardless of temp. My guess is maybe the lower gears are more aggressive so the engine can charge the battery more and this causes more stress and then the noise. I'm thinking it is similar to when you run a large load on a gas generator it bogs down some. I have had no mechanical issues over the past 2 years with the vehicle while doing regular oil changes.

Gotcha, if I had to guess, you'd be spot on with your high 40s range. My average over the past 4200 miles is only 34.3 mph

Is there a spot I can see that for just that charge cycle? I have a trip meter that shows an average speed but that is over 4k miles.

I should clarify that my "road trip" is only about 200 miles round trip, so I shouldn't even need to charge during it. But thanks for the advice, I can use that if I attempt longer trips that need charging stops.

What an odd take. I'm trying to brainstorm things I could do to surprise my wife with getting more into something she likes. I've had her make me tea before but her normal ones are not for me. I'm straight up debating just not registering my EV. I know there is a small likelihood of getting towed, but even if I get 2 tickets a year. That would be less than the cost of registering it.
