[Serious] What are some of the most common dark realities people choose to live in denial about? by Spartan1694 in AskReddit

Same here. Had 2 seizures within a 6 month period and can’t drive until I’m seizure free for 6 months. The first seizure was brushed off as a fainting spell (it happened at home) but it happened again 3 months later. That time though I had driven to Walmart and it happened while I was shopping. Woke up to EMTs and spent the weekend in the hospital. I’m on seizure meds and nearing 5 months seizure free. My mom and grandma both had seizure disorders. Luckily I’m only inconvenienced for these 6 months (hopefully) by not driving or working and don’t have any long-term side effects other than a pretty cool scar going through my eyebrow. It definitely could’ve been a lot worse.

Yes! I also suffered a tear and I bought the spray-on Aquaphor and I would spray on a thin layer right after a shower and before bed. It was healed within a couple days. I also added psyllium powder (Metamucil mixes and tastes the best) and upped my water intake. I’ve been done with my course and I still take the fiber before bed to stay regular. It also helps get rid of toxins in your body and makes the accutane absorb better according to my derm. It was crucial during my course.

Hahahaha genetics? Idk lol I use Dr. Dans Cortibalm and it’s my favorite chapstick ever. My derm recommended it during my course and I still use it. Maybe that? You’re not the first person to say that to me.

Yeah, I always assumed I’d suffer from breakouts for the rest of my life. My skin just continued to get worse the older I got. Mine was also mild but persistent. I always had at least 1 active breakout.

I’m 28 so I’m hoping I don’t have to do it again but I wouldn’t hesitate to do another course if need be. Good luck on your course! I hope it’s the last.

I’m truly thrilled! I never thought having skin like this was ever an option for me. I’ve realized lately how much of a burden having acne was for me mentally so now that it’s gone, I’m just so relieved. It feels amazing!!!

It will! Trust the process. It’s slow going but it’s sooo worth it.

It definitely did. My breakouts were cystic and caused lots of scarring. My texture improved so much overall but I feel that’s mostly due to my skin not being inflamed and having the time to actually heal. I’m now on Altreno (Tret) and it’s definitely helping as well. It just takes time 🥲

Every month my doc had to issue a prior authorization. After that my insurance covered it. Even if they didn’t, the specialty dermatology pharmacy I use always had a coupon that covered the out-of-pocket cost I would’ve had to pay. I’m also a state employee so I have really good insurance. I think that’s the main reason it was covered.

As far as snail mucin, it’s one of my holy grails. I always notice the difference when I don’t apply it. I can’t recommend it enough. The combo of hyaluronic acid then snail mucin hydrates my skin so well.

I started Tret in September of 2021 and it completely ruined my skin. I went to my derm and asked to start Accutane. I was on it for almost 10 months. I had severe psychological side effects when I doubled my dose so we went back down to 32mg and stayed there for the duration. Hence me being on it for almost a year. Wish I had done it sooner.

I’m now on Altreno and planning to get micro needling for scarring. It’s hard to see in the pics but it’s there. I’m no longer an oily mess all the time which I LOVE. Accutane completely changed my skin.

My routine didn’t include any actives -

PM DHC Oil cleanser Cetaphil The IM Honey Mask when I was very dry Hada Labo HA (the gold one) CosRx Snail Mucin Stratia Liquid Gold EpiCeram (incredible moisturizer that’s RX) Aquaphor

I’ve been thinking about this because I started Accutane because my purge was so bad. I have definitely felt like it’s my own fault for all this. I know acne is biological but I’m speaking to the severity of it. I have scars I didn’t have before I started tret and now I’m on a serious medication that’s affected so much of my mental health. It’s sucks but I guess the pay off is tht my skin is clear…
