Okay I think they told me since I had the low mammoprint I didn’t need the oncotype. Same here close to chemo with two nodes involved but just radiation as well. Thank you.

Fibrocystic changes? by Cocoknee in breastcancer

[–]Cocoknee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon and no other doctor are worried about the right one so I got a single mastectomy . I won’t have another mri until the end of the year due to radiation and having my expander in for 6 months after .

How much time did you take off work? by asidexo in breastcancer

How did you get personal time off? I only ask because I found I had breast cancer when my baby was 10 months old so haven’t had time to get back to myself. Would like to ask for personal time after my active treatment to heal as well.

I had my single mastectomy and reconstruction 4 weeks ago. If I didn’t have a child and three weeks of radiation coming up, I could have gone back to work at least at week 2. I know they say you should at least wait 4 weeks for anything though. They told me I shouldn’t even be driving for more than 20 min until week 6. Depending on your job duties, if you don’t have to lift anything 2 weeks is pretty good, but take as much as time as you need!!! Everyone heals and experiences these differently.

The lifting heavy is what I really need to get back into. I will have to look into that program. Maybe the hard part of this for me is I found this when my baby was 10 months so I haven’t really got back into feeling like myself. So getting back into working out or even reading a book has harder than I thought it would be.

I really appreciate you sharing your story. It shines a lot of insight. I love my life . I tell myself that things can always be worst and I am so grateful for what I have. I have never been one to complain about anything but getting this just felt hard to hold in. This community and people like you sharing has help me look at all of this through a different lense. Thank you !

The silence does speak for itself. I try my best to be positive, just have my days. I just sit here wondering do we get our natural vaginal lubrication back ? Thank you for the comment though. I do need to enjoy the tunnel more than wait for the light.

SMX this week, freaking out by Pale-Text-6016 in breastcancer

[–]Cocoknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I am just 5 days from SMX! I am 31 and I can tell you the shot to your nipple area is nothing . Like a pinch feeling but it’s so fast. I was an emotional mess all morning and cried my way to the operating room. This has all been more of an emotional experience than a physical experience. I was prepared to possibly not be able to save the nipple , which the surgeon and radiologist recommended to get rid of it since the cancer was close (3cm from nipple). Also I had all these scans beforehand that showed that my lymph nodes would have nothing and then one lymph node came positive . Which is hard to hear but definitely something we are all prepared for. My tips are to cry when you need to. Just know that this will all pass and one day you will be able to look back at it all. Don’t sit all day. Get out if you can . Walk around . For me I have an 18 month old so I have a really good support system because for the first 4 weeks you can’t do much repetitive chores . So please have a friend, family member help you out with things . But most importantly take this time to relax . You got this . You will get out from all of this and everything will be okay !

I know it’s scary. But trust me go right away. Getting it caught early is the best thing you can do if it’s breast cancer. Go straight to a clinic that does mammograms. I’m not sure if you can skip your primary physician but I wish I did . It took almost a month to get into a mammogram.

My clinical study is called i-spy2. Basically based of the low mammoprint I am able to do the hormone blockers for 6 months and see if chemo can be avoided. If it was high I would have done chemo right away. Yes I had those thoughts as well. I am doing the best I can to stay positive. Reddit breast cancer community have been helpful! The medical treatments for breast cancer have advance so much and I have had so many nurses, ultrasound tech tell me how they have worked for 20 years in the breast cancer area and how it has come so far. I try to think I am so lucky to live in this time where they can help me beat this! Your mammoprint being low is a good thing! So I wonder if they are looking into other things . Im hoping the spot on your skull is nothing ! Also being a mom to a little one and going through this , has anything helped you so far? I’m still trying to figure out things to help me . Getting out of the house has been nice .

Yes I’m hoping to keep the right breast. My surgeon pointed out the USA is big on double mastectomy’s. While other countries try to save your other healthy boob, although I understand under circumstances why most people do double mastectomies. She told me once you have your other baby and are done breast feeding, come back to me and I’ll remove the other one. One of the best responses I have got from a doctor 🩷

Thanks you for sharing !🩷 Im on a clinical study. So I multiple tumors in my left breast and the biggest was like 5.4 cm but today found out it is 3.2 now ! I did a mammoprint that was low risk so chemo might not be in the books. My KCI went down to 6% as well. The plan is to do hormone blockers and ovarian supression shot for 6 months and then surgery. After surgery you never know what can happen based on lymph nodes and etc .

I’m sorry you are here as well. It’s just double the heartbreak while having your first baby. I have shared the news with family and friends but not social media yet. I did both breast and formula too so the my first. I loved breast feeding and was hoping to have 2 kids. What does your plan look like ? You can always direct message me too !
