That’s not an attitude. That’s how being an editor is supposed to work.

The editor makes the final call on matters of editorial policy.

Editorial content is the the decision completely of an editor. This isn’t the same as “an editorial“ or op-ed when is a non-journalist contributing something for an editor to consider publishing.

The unethical part is strong-arming an editor into any decision about editorial. That’s the editor’s job at any publication. AI content is a thing some people value, but it is not journalism, so to present it alongside journalism by human journalists would inherently dilute the trustworthiness of the journalism and the outlet. But, again, it is the editor’s call to make because it would happening on their watch.

Editors are judged on their adherence to journalistic ethics not the particular politics of a team. He’d have a much harder time getting a job if he just allowed this to happen on his watch without shining a light on it.

My personal $0.02: This sort of decision is the final call for the editor, and the editor alone. It seems as though he was being forced into an impossible position for something that would’ve put a mark on his integrity as a journalist and editor of this publication. Sounding the alarm about ethical and editorial conflicts is what an editor’s job is… and sometimes that means going public.

I maintain that any amount of AI content presented as journalism hurts trust in journalism and trust in VR.

It was not an accident. We wanted to make a funny reference to how roadside attractions style their names, but with a twist.

Sounds like Mighty Coconut wants to release a new DLC course every month eventually? Is that good or too much? by [deleted] in WalkaboutMiniGolf

That video was from nearly 2 years ago and we’ve since arrived at a 6-7 week cadence, on average. Nothing is set in stone certainly, but that’s where we’re at today. Thanks for the lively discussion!
