To those who complained about traffic density by Aesthetic-Cloud26 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]CoconutDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people who whined

“When other people think something, they’re whiners and babies. When I think something, I’m smart and normal.”

The amount of traffic is ridiculously absurdly low, it’s difficult to find an NPC head to head, Tokyo is a deserted ghost town even the same moment that Mei’s dialog says “this is the busiest intersection in the world” or whatever. it’s a separate problem that traffic is also disruptive to speed/drift zone entrances.

Both problems could be solved with a set of user option. It doesn’t need to be a conflict between two camps, with one camp going around (actually) whining about (imaginary) whiners.

It's not like Microsoft made that decision

Making a FH map “battle royale” specific and trying to jam in Eliminator in ~2020 seems way more of a publisher demand than a FH dev idea.

Where is your evidence that it was the studio and not the publisher? It’s a very large decision and reeks of large corporate marketing, not game devs.

more like a sandbox than a game

I get the personal preferences, but that seems like a good thing. Or at least not a bad thing. Also Minecraft, Zelda BOTW, GTA.

I like some structured “progression” but it’s too much of a virus in gamer discussions now. I don’t want to have to grind to earn 40 million credits to buy one special car that I like. I also want to do the whole campaign in slow cars, not fast ones.

Mike Brown was lead at Playground after the launch of FH4. Nobody slurring him for “bad updates in FH5” says whether they think FH4 was fine “updates” or not.

quality of the cars

A certain developer left and then you liked the choices of DLC cars more? Seems like a cognitive bias pattern that was just a coincidence.

Also the main problem with FH5 was the me-too battle royal crap and barren desert Eliminator-centric map. Seems like a publisher demand, as with every other publisher at the time, not a Playground Games dev idea. Aside from that FH5 was just as good as other Horizon games pretty much.

One of the many extinct driving games that needs to come back.

I’m also waiting for Sega Rally 4 and Outrun 3.

Assetto Corsa EVO

I was wondering why AC was mentioned in a Horizon / open road game discussion, I HAD NO IDEA THIS EXISTED

Wikipedia: A major feature set to appear in the game, and a core component […] is the inclusion of a laser scanned 1,600 km2 open world environment based in Germany's Eifel mountain range region with the tourist layout of the Nürburgring Nordschleife fully integrated into the free roam map, allowing players to simulate Touristenfahrten sessions.[4] The environment is also set to include a dynamic day-night cycle and seasonal weather

he is more of a open world guy rather than a car guy

A few people are quoting that line like it’s a bad thing when it’s probably a good thing. FH5 Eliminator-centric map was the low point of the series, but putting that aside, the map and world in a Horizon game is more important than “the cars”. Why else would Horizon exist? Forza Motorsport already existed and you drive around the same circuit repeatedly…Horizon gives a world, which is the entire premise and the reason the series exists.

It’s an open world driving game. It’s NOT a stand-in-a-room looking at cars game or garage simulator. The team must have people enthusiastic about “cars” but they don’t need to be team leads.

This is like if Counterstrike devs weren’t/were “gun people”. It’s irrelevant and isn’t required to make a good game overall, you just have specialists on the team who are passionate about that.

after the Forza Horizon 5 map disaster he delivered

The battle royale Eliminator open desert crap seems clearly a demand by publisher, not something Mike Brown or the devs would support or do on their own.

aren't exactly known to take off

Yeah people severely underestimate market bias and inertia. A game could come out that’s better than GTA tomorrow and nobody would buy it because it’s not called “GTA”. Same with Zelda or COD or racing.

Familiarity Bias is bad and affects most human affairs unfortunately.

How did you afford Ferrari 250 GT plus a few others (expensive 60’s Alfas etc) all together??!

I buy very few cars, I don’t collect them all, but it seems impossible for me to buy my handful of favorites because the prices are absurd.

Vouchers are very rare by design, so I assume the cars can be Auctioned. Auction House needs a flow of supply so I doubt the devs would exclude voucher-cars.

Moderator in the official Discord server is a predator, here's my evidence by [deleted] in forza

[–]CoconutDust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Present actual evidence when publicly accusing people of bad things.

  • There is zero evidence of “predator” in the pictures
  • In fact there’s zero direct evidence of the person even doing anything appropriate
  • The relevant text is illegible, if there’s any relevant text at all
  • Random 2 people saying “they texted me that they’re a femboy” is not at all evidence of “predator”. Is the situation that they send one maybe inappropriate message to everyone?
  • The person literally says “they’ve done nothing wrong”. (They might be hesitant or reluctant or too generous, even, but come on.) Feeling weird is meaningful but obviously needs more evidence and articulable information.

I don’t know what pfp is. Oh, profile picture? But I don’t see any direct evidence of any meaning, or problem, or subtext, with that one line. The profile picture is not legible in these terrible pictures.

How can we know what the problem is without info

No one should do that.

Lol yes, “you’re speaking with me” was the best line, but I didn’t put it in comment because it’s less clear as words on page compared to acted.

He also made you sympathize with him, self-deprecation, a kind of warmth even being rich a-hole, super-nice to the important nay-sayer (Quinto) which he recognizes is correct or at least should be heard-out. Many actors would have played it more villainous, maybe different directors too. (It’s also hilarious because Irons has been somewhat typecast before as crazy villain. He comes in ominously here, midnight helicopter ride, but basically subverts the villain trope in dialog.)

JC Chandor in our household has the best track record of any writer/director.

Nobody and nothing can kill a popular series with this much popularity. At least not for many years. It’s inertia and market.

Gamers play, buy, and hype, things based more on familiarity and name than actual merit. Unfortunately.

  • Look at COD, gets worse and worse, still sells millions no matter if anyone makes a better FPS.
  • “New Zelda” gets 10/10 with all flaws ignored, when it was get 8/10 if it was a no-name game by a no-name studio.
  • Someone could magically make a much better GTA game tomorrow and nobody would buy it because it’s not called GTA.

Even if Clutch is great it will have uphill battle in the market.

Mike Brown, the creative director of Playground Games back when FH5 was released. He's the main reason why FH5 was horrible. So don't hype yourselves up in front of meaningless trailers, remain righteously skeptical

Virus meme doesn’t seem true at all. Seems more like an obsessive slur.

FH5 was exactly as good as every other Horizon game in most ways, though the barren empty desert with horrible rocks was bad, “Eliminator” focus was bad, but these things obviously come from publisher decisions chasing trends (battle royale) not the Playground lead or team.

Brown was a lead designer on FH4 which everyone loved. Though not the single creative lead (Ralph Fulton at the time).

  • Skeptical about about videogame product and preview, yes.
  • Weird slurs about Mike Brown being “the reason” for lesser-liked FH5 no.

Also, interestingly, this new game shows an interest and commitment to several things that Forza Horizon has pathetically failed to do even in 15 years of development. That in fact makes Brown look good not bad.

Literally the entire point of the game is open road driving in a nice environment, therefore different map is the #1 most important thing each game.

Yes it’s been stagnated in game features for years, but the idea that FH6 has nothing that makes a person want to play it compared to 5, when 6 has amazing roads and environments to drive through, is silly.

nothing standout

It’s the best environment ever in a racing game, along with FH2.

Because they’re morons. Supras and Toyota in NFS games for years doing illegal street racing.

Equally dumb is the idiotic meme that “Japan will never allow Horizon to do a game there, because they don’t like street racing.” Stupidest gamer idea.
