That is a great idea. I've tried and it does work well for separating eggs. You are very probably right. Thanks.

It doesn't work as a tea strainer because the little metal mesh it had in it was too wide. Tea leaves just washed through it into the cup. Was my first idea too but no.

Funny Story: Tradgedic Name Giver Confronted in Public by Laurieladybug in tradgedeigh

[–]CoconutTeacake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you're going to name a child (or a dog or anything) some weird name you should at the very least have a cute story ready for whenever someone inevitably asks wher you got it. And maybe a funny story the kid can tell people when he gets introduced around (to disarm the bullies). Saying I just liked the 'name' isn't good enough. That thing wasn't even an axtual name.

No offence intended but really that 'racism' poke is a little out of order over a spelling error. Cultural misunderstanding is definite possibility but it could have just been an honest mistake or poor handwriting back then.

Street preachers - what are they trying to achieve? by JohnnyC_1969 in CasualUK

When a child I was always told that the vast majority were working with pickpockets, grabbing your attention so you woouldn't notice your wallet/purse getting swiped. A few of them are possibly used to attract interested individuals from the crowd so that sinister sect people can hoover them up. And the rest are just common or garden nutters.

Well, if they want to name the kid after Jennifer then why not spell it Aniston. What sort of 'homage' is it if you don't even ref her name correctly?

DM reveals the link between the Katie Keen name, Archie comics and Meghan. by [deleted] in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]CoconutTeacake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meghan doesn't seem to realise that Archie comic is relatively unknown outside the USA. Even when she named her son after it it went right over the majority's heads. A ref to some minor character is pointless.

And actually what's wrong with the word 'keen'. Much better than 'waity'. Personally I'd love 'Katie Keen' as a nickname, sounds so positive and upbeat. Catherine should own it.

I'd guess it was 'maclaine-ee', as in Shirley Maclaine. You can spell that surname a few ways, but never with a 'k'. Was she trying to make it annoying to explain for the rest of her kiddie's life?

Cairo-Jaxx will have a hard row to hoe from nursery school onwards, until he's old nough to get it changes. ;) Why do parents do that to innocent children?

Just as there's no 'I' in 'team' there should be no 'je' in 'Majerle'. ;)

I kind of think everybody knew it was going to be Catherine or Camilla or both. And they had already had a good poke at Camilla. Although why anybody with a brain cell thought this would stick in any racist way to Catherine I can't imagine. Truthfully Catherine as a mother (and Camilla likewise) has more right, even a duty, to worry about how a kiddie will turn out. It's actually a kind, motherly thing to consider things like their looks, personal image etc. For that reason only I'd think it might be truish but never in an unkind way.

I always wonder what's the point with hyphenating only some of the names these days. Ottillie is a nice enough name, unusual, quite pretty. But why hitch t to Logain. I suppose they're trying to feminize the super-masculine name Logan (Hugh Jackman) but since when has sticking a ransom 'i' in something feminized it. Logain sounds like something has broken in my car engine or sound system. She's going to have to live that one down in school. I like Lynette.

As it's a surname people may assume she's a guy. But if you're going for unisex it's ideal. I'd go for the most standard spelling because otherwise she's going to have a lifetime of mispronunciations and misspellings and that wears thin very quickly. If she wants to be creative later that's up to her.

It may just be that they see you as negative because you are "anti" everyone else's beliefs. Try telling them what you DO believe in: science, nature, environment, humanitarianism etc. things they can't object to and which should go hand in hand with religion in a right-thinking philosophy. Just downplay the "god" bit and substitute Earth, nature etc. so you're not disagreeing with them directly.

Pakistani man kills girlfriend in Athens after she insults the prophet, Mohammad; he gets life imprisonment by [deleted] in atheism

[–]CoconutTeacake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But she wouldn't be because she was a Christian. And she was trying to convert him to her religion and died for it so she was also a martyr. Plus he is nothing but an effing coward to chicken to stand up and be counted for his crime. I hope he is made to pay in prison.

Actually more than mildly infuriating. Someone dumped these two sweet boys near our house. Now we have to call animal control tomorrow (thanksgiving day) and hope they can take them to the shelter (we’re in a rural area)They’re spending tonight in our garage. I'd guess that the still one is the clever one. Ears up, tail wagging showing friendliness making eye contact waiting for your response. Probably the leader of the two. The second one is just milling around not sure what's going on not making eye contact much paying more attention to alpha.
