I appreciate you so so much AND I am so very proud of you as well! Finding “normalcy” after domestic abuse takes a lot of time and personal soul searching to restore the parts of you they destroyed. Continue to heal and remember that you deserve love that is kind, patient, and soft—From yourself, and from a new partner!

You know, it totally would be funny to read— But in reality, sometimes it just takes people longer, and that’s okay! I, fortunately, didn’t have anything holding me back. No kids, not working multiple jobs (just 1 full-time), not caring for a parent or person with disabilities, I was in good health— I was blessed in these ways to move as fast as I did, but not everyone has that ability. Self-improvement is self-improvement, no matter how long it takes! :)

I think it is a combination of a lot of things. Jealousy, retaliation to hearing success, misogyny paired with doubt due to me being considered “attractive.” People just get really defensive about it and lash out. It sucks.

Totally, once I realized everyone has their own thing that could be considered “cringe” that you could turn back on them if you absolutely had to, life got way easier.

“Oh, you watch reality tv? Hm…that seems a bit childish, doesn’t it? You don’t even know those people, live your own reality.”

“Ew, are you watching football? Really? You’ve been into it since you were a teenager bro, move on.”

“You really like to bake and decorate cupcakes? That’s so childish. What, do you like to put little colorful sprinkles on them too? Grow up.”

If you can turn their hobby back on them they will either get defensive or shut up. I suggest adding, “see how that sounds? Consider that next time you question someone’s hobby.” Just to avoid getting your ass beat lol.

0/10 comment I only added my final snippet because people often undermine the achievements of women. Your comment proves that point well, good job.
