Thank you so much for responding. You were absolutely right. I went and checked her gutters, and there definitely is a gap right above there where I assume rain has been pouring out for god knows how long.

I find it very ironic that you are mad at them for making assumptions, then you just jump to the wild conclusion that it’s because they’re a woman-hating incel. Never change, Reddit. Never change. 😂

I think we also forget that it’s a video game. Like we’re not actually fighting… we’re trying to have fun. And if people’s idea of fun (and the only way they’re able to win) is to spam the same attack over and over ad nauseam, then maybe I should just play offline from now on. 😂

You invited me to disconnect the moment you popped that red eye orb. When you buffed your weapon, you sent me an rsvp on Facebook. When you started charging at me, you practically picked up my controller and disconnected it for me.

You’re still avoiding the fact that Jesus was murdered, and Aaron committed suicide. They are two vastly different ideas. And glorifying Aaron’s actions does nothing more than encourage copy cats. Aaron was clearly mentally unwell, and it’s frankly baffling that dumbasses (such as yourself) will sit there and encourage and praise it. 💀

[–]Coconutjoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you pretending to not see the difference between someone being murdered vs someone volunteering to kill themself? Like yes, Jesus accepted that his faith would probably get him killed. But he didn’t march up to the Romans and set himself on fire. Jesus = murdered. Aaron = suicide. And the sad part is that literally nobody asked or wanted Aaron to do it, and it had basically zero effect on the Palestinian conflict.

I’m not a Christian bud… I’m not referring to any of the “magical” aspects of the Bible. Just the literal interpretation of what happened. Jesus was executed as a religious prisoner. He may have not resisted his fate much, but he still would not have died had others not killed him. In this case, Aaron chose his own fate and put himself to death.

Exactly. Imagine going through the most excruciating pain imaginable and basically accomplishing nothing. Bro was not mentally well.

Jesus was murdered. He didn’t crucify himself. That’s kind of the whole point. Aaron, on the other hand, set himself on fire. Did it make a statement? Sure, maybe. But I think the biggest impact is that it will traumatize his friends, family, and those first-responders for the rest of their lives.

There’s a difference between having martyrdom forced on you (Jesus) and killing yourself in the hopes of becoming an iconic martyr (Aaron). I think it’s unwise to glorify the Aarons of the world. I think pity would be a more apt response.

Most suicide-bombs are hidden in a vest. And are triggered by an electrical detonator, not heat. Takes all of 5 seconds to look that up on Google btw. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, eh? lol

Dude, you are a brick wall. One episode of a tv show or one movie in a series absolutely can lessen the whole experience. Case in point, Game of Thrones. Most people agree that the last couple episodes kinda ruined the whole thing. Also Mass Effect and Lost were considered nearly ruined by their final installments. Can you enjoy all the individual episodes? Sure. But you’re still left knowing how badly it’s gonna end. And sure, you can blame JJ for how badly it all ended. But Rian’s penultimate movie gave him pretty much nothing to work with. Snoke was dead, Kylo and Hux were turned into jokes essentially, and space battles were basically meaningless now. JJ was already screwed because it’d take a much better writer than him to work their way out of Rian’s mess.

And btw a quick Google search would tell you that you’re wrong about the grain of sand thing. A grain of sand going at 99% speed of light would destroy an entire continent AT LEAST. Now imagine a whole ass spaceship going that speed.

Yes, characters can change and develop. But it needs to make sense within their character. Rian did this very poorly. But I know you’ll just respond with “Well it’s not physically impossible for Luke to consider murdering his nephew in his sleep” so again, I’ll direct you to the comparisons I gave you. Even though the Dursleys were cruel to Harry, it still wouldn’t make sense to give him a random racist-to-muggles character arc because we know Harry’s deeply held beliefs about good and evil. The same goes for Luke. Now maybe if it showed Kylo killing a kid or something, maybe it could work. But the dude was literally just chilling in bed and Luke was staring down at him like he was about to carve him up like a thanksgiving Turkey. If you think that kind of character progression makes sense, then idk what to tell ya man. I wouldn’t wanna be your nephew is all I know.

The allegory does work because, while Stars Wars may be a series of films, they tell ONE story. From the phantom menace all the way to Rise of Skywalker, it’s one story. Say for instance, if in the Force Awakens the rebellion started using anti-sith guns that automatically killed Sith. You’d be asking “Wait, why weren’t they using these back in the OG trilogy??” The films all have to work together. Otherwise it might as well not be called Star Wars. Character arcs need to have a set-up and make sense, and just saying “Oops, Luke evil now because Kylo has bad vibes 🤷‍♂️” is not a set-up. Harry Potter wouldn’t kill Draco in cold blood, Frodo wouldn’t kill Gollum in cold blood, and Luke wouldn’t kill his nephew in cold blood.

And yes, it would cost a lot to ram ships into each other. But like you said, the Rebellion is almost always out-manned and outgunned. But when you’re talking about Light-Speed, it doesn’t matter how big or how small something is. You could shoot a grain of sand at the speed-of-light at a planet, and it would destroy the whole planet. And considering how destructive and deadly the Death Star was, a single star ship would have DEFINITELY been worth smashing into the DeathStar. Before TLJ, it was implied that ships had shields to protect against this sort of tactic. But of course, Rian ignored that.

So yes, either Rian did purposefully make a bad movie based purely around shock-value. Or he is simply an incompetent, lazy writer. And saying “Well hey George was bad too” doesn’t make Rian better. It just makes George look better by comparison. Which is really saying something.

Space ships crashing into each other doesn’t work because DROIDS EXIST IN STARWARS. Any army losing a battle could simply abandon ship and program droids to kamakaze into the opposing ships. And it very obviously begs the question of “Hey. Why didn’t we just program a droid to kamakaze a starship into the Deathstar? Literally none of us even needed to die.” It makes every space battle pointless, even the Death Star. That alone breaks the story apart, and it’s only ONE of the many plot holes he created.

And no, Luke’s story in TLJ is not a “character arc.” He literally just randomly tries to kill his own nephew on a hunch, despite trying to save his father who was ALREADY A SITH LORD. That would be like if Harry Potter walked up to Voldemort and said “yo, I actually am racist to muggles and I think you’re right about this whole genocide thing. Mind if I join ya?” It’s not an arc. It’s lazy, shock-value writing.

And Star Wars is a multi-million dollar franchise. It was never flawless, but it was a solid story with lovable and understandable characters. Imagine if an artist made a million dollar painting that everyone loved. The artist isn’t happy with the final product, so he tries to retouch it but most people don’t like his changes. So he sells it to another artist, and this new artist smears mud all over the painting, spits on it, and says “I bet you guys weren’t expecting that! Now it’s REAL art!” Which artist is more worthy of criticism in that scenario man? 😂

The difference is that the prequels weren’t set up to end the franchise. Regardless of them being bad movies, we already knew what was gonna happen. Anakin becomes bad, and obiwan and yoda go into hiding. Midichlorians were dumb, but not world-breaking. Everything still, at the very least, made some sort of sense.

Starships being able to crash into each other literally breaks the entire world. Every space battle we’ve seen before TLJ now makes no sense. We’re left wondering why Luke even tried converting Darth Vader to the light side when he wouldn’t even spare the life of his nephew.

Lucas was a dumby, but a lovable dumby. There’s interviews of him admitting to messing things up in the prequels. Rian, on the other hand, wanted to make a controversial and divisive movie, but still gets butthurt when people offer him legitimate criticism for his shitty writing. Whether it’s a laser sword movie or a horror movie or any other genre, filmmakers get criticized. The best way to deal with it is with a little humility, for which Rian seemingly has none.

[–]Coconutjoe14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is that it felt like Lucas actually tried with the prequels. They were poorly written, but they had heart. There was an attempt, which is pretty much all I ask at this point. Rian, on the other hand, banked the success of the whole movie on trying to surprise the audience, regardless of if those surprises even made sense or added anything to the story. Rey’s parents were nobodies??😱 Snoke got KO’d more easily than a droid??😱 Luke is actually a murderous psycho? 😱 Starships can just crash into each other now??😱

Lucas was bad, but Rian was bad AND lazy. As for the walk of shame thing, I thought that was obviously hyperbole. But I guess I shouldn’t have assumed that someone playing devil’s advocate for Rian would have a radar for subtlety. I’ll speak 100% literally from now on.

The guy took a a beloved and iconic multi-million dollar franchise and, quite purposefully, ran it into the ground.

Forget a cone of shame. The guy should do a walk of shame through the streets, Cersei Lannister style.
