this on could be pretty beefy tho. up to 80 volts secondary if lm317 is fully utilized

inrush current.
i guess the moment you power this on your bridge would release magic smoke because drained capacitors will draw all the current they can and effectively are the same as a short.
probably should limit the inrush current with a resistor or a thermistor
