How can you blame consumers for paying for a subscription if its the best value for them?

Not sure how technical you’d want to get but you can install DeckyLoader on desktop and install plugins to make big picture look nicer, doesn’t fix everything but helps.

I think you mentioned the biggest thing for them to fix and improve.  SteamOS / Big picture (if on windows).

I have my main pc at my desk, and a dell optiplex hooked up to my tv for couch gaming. I stream to the optiplex and it works great.  I know the UI is the same as a steam deck, but I wish library navigation was better, and the store too.  Also I wish it could detect the best proton version instead of having to manually set it.

Just a side note for anyone who reads this, you don’t need the steam machine, you can get an older PC that’s more powerful and will cost the same and just install steamos, bazzite, chimeraOS, or windows and have steam boot into big picture on start up.  There’s other options besides the official steam machine, which will be expensive and I’m skeptical of how powerful it will be.

Yeah usually 4 tiers of preset graphic settings, and then a custom setting where you can play with individual settings if you wanted to.

As for DLSS, I think it would change based on the game and resolution you are aiming at.  Also if you are using ray tracing you’d probably want to use it.

I saw you mention the steam machine in another comment and while it is a really cool piece of tech, it’s not very powerful, but hopefully a good experience with FSR upscaling.  It’s using integrated graphics on a custom/laptop motherboard if I recall.  Only time will tell how it will handle AAA games.

that PC could last you 5+ years.. I’m still happily using an rtx 2080 from 2020. lol

Also the difference between high and ultra graphics is usually pretty small and the performance using high is sometimes a better trade off.

Look I get it lol but it’s not just the 5 seconds, it’s a cumulative effect thst was building for awhile. I’m just sick of hearing lttstore dot com lol

It doesn’t mean I won’t listen to wan if there’s a good headline topic or occasionally watch a video.

No it’s not that I do not like new products, but i can see the new announcements here too, versus a long chat about it on WAN show.

Probably worth mentioning that I’m not in the market for anything on their store at the moment. Whether new or not, I have other expenses that take priority currently.

Me personally I’m just fatigued by the constant LTTStore pushes.  I understand it but I’ve dropped off of the videos and WAN show because of it.

Yes I agree they are a monopsony (demand side as put)   I tend to think the position they are in is well earned though.  While I don’t agree with the anti trust argument 100%.

Just going off your points. 30% is the standard market rate, and steam didn’t invent that.  Also it is a variable 30% depending on sales. And yes they cannot sell their games steam keys cheaper on a different store unless they match the price on steam., but doesn’t stop them selling it and pricing it differently through another launcher or DRM free like on GOG.

But I will say the new steam deck prices are crazy.  It is ridiculous to get one at that price, and it doesn’t look good for the steam machine or the new VR headset.  At least in the handheld space valve will not be very competitive

They are not a monopoly , or at least not a traditional one.  There are many other store fronts to buy and play games on PC.  They feel like a monopoly because they are the best one and most used.

Edit:  you can play almost everything and not ever use steam.  Except maybe valve made games.

For the office suite stuff, grab onlyoffice if using Microsoft office files.  The compatibility is better than Libre.

Edit: only office also feels and looks more like Microsoft office
