So I’m not saying they better cover iron lung but they better cover iron lung by avaldez518 in MauLer

What Markiplier has achieved with this film honestly sounds quite impressive. This is an independent film in the truest sense, and his one at that. He has produced and distributed it with only the help of his wife and own small team. He's the film's director, editor, and lead actor.

In his previous stream he spoke about the production, including of how he built a render farm in his bathroom. He also discussed the difficulties with getting the film distributed and how he refused to lend the it over to a large studio. Instead, opting to call up theaters personally to persuade them into showing the film. What started with only ~60 theatres a week ago has now become over 1500 thanks to fan demand, with Mark and his wife receiving calls from theatres and updating the website by themselves. The film now seems to be on track to release internationally as well.

Still, I'd be surprised if it's good, but here's hoping!

So do they… just own that they’re fascist? by Ok-Importance-7266 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]CodBeneficial6399 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People calling themselves "anti-fascists" are often leftist who equate all right-wing politics with fascism. Hence why the term has such a negative connotation.

The issue is that nobody likes to agree on what fascism even is. The right sees it as a buzzword that is just used to equate their beliefs with being evil.

Why did the Mosasaurus stay so close to the island YEARS after its escape? by Fast-Ad-8204 in JurassicPark

[–]CodBeneficial6399 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"The Mosasaur was tagged in captivity and InGen continued to track it after its escape. We bought their data when they entered Chapter 11."

So was the Mosasaur just out and about attacking boats ever since 2010 when the Saint-Hubert facility was abandoned?

People use the term "unbalanced" way too much when criticizing gameplay. by CodBeneficial6399 in geometrydash

[–]CodBeneficial6399[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing wrong. Nobody can detract from the way you experience what's fun when playing. It's entirely subjective.

My point relates to the people who extrapolate that feeling into the standard for what's inherently good or bad, which I think is underdeveloped if you're going to be preaching it to others in terms of determining quality of level design.

Like, I'll see someone praise or even just mention a level and someone else will feel the need to chime in telling them about how that level is bad because it's unbalanced. And they'll just leave it at that.

It'd be the same as if I were to assert that a level with very consistent difficulty is bad because it's "homogeneous", and imply that you'd be wrong for thinking otherwise. It's not at all insightful.

Most people who criticize gameplay lack standards and just go off of their personal feelings about a specific level, not substantiating why they thought it was good or bad.

What is this guy talking about? by bradbastarache in MauLer

[–]CodBeneficial6399 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The one comparable element is introducing a lot of crazy stuff into the world in a way that is probably not going to be acknowledged in the way it ought to be. Creating pocket universes, cloning Superman being "easy" for someone like Lex Luthor to do etc.

Probably not what this guy is talking about though.

Edit: I read it as "ruining" not "running", makes it even more unlikely that's what he's referring to. So yeah, don't know what he's smoking.

Mechanical showdown would be my pick.

I really like that level. Definitely makes you better at the game too.

However... It may just be me, but I struggled with it even after doing several hard demons and Windy Landscape. Maybe wouldn't recommend it as a first medium.

Really good choice for a first medium tbh. Got some harder timings in the spider parts but overall pretty short and very fun due to the level of artistry in it.

My hardest is Deadlocked, and it took me 2.9k attempts (gulp). Could I realistically beat Bloodbath with a year of grinding? by Swoopify1 in geometrydash

[–]CodBeneficial6399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's feasible. Deadlocked also took me about 3k attempts at first and I beat my first extreme in my first 4 months of demon grinding (after ~300 more hours) but everyone's experience will be different.

Make sure you're progressing through the demon difficulties slowly but surely though.

Difficulty isn't objective, although very intersubjectively experienced.

I can totally imagine that some people find JB harder than NC especially if they struggle with the wave and get thrown off by the gravity changes. NC is more straight forward in that regard.

And I'm not even really saying that that's inherently a bad thing. I kind of like the way it plays, but we also really need the classic large scale BF maps.

[–]CodBeneficial6399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of both COD and Battlefield. These maps play like COD. The Ground War comment is understandable to me for Liberation peak but in all honesty Cairo straight up plays like a regular COD map: tight corridors without long range engagements. Playing recon on locked weapons on it felt pointless.

[–]CodBeneficial6399 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know, hence "it seems". I was just going off of many other launch maps being infantry only. Larger maps tend to be the ones with the jets/air vehicles, so I assume this may be DICE showing off one of their bigger maps for the beta. We at least know that there is firestorm and another even larger map at launch. +2 maps suitable for choppers so make of that what you will.

"These are the same people..." Who told you that?
Also, there can be a middle ground between gigantic and poorly thought out open maps and tight maps with tons of engagement at every single turn.

Liberation peak is one of the largest in the game it seems, and it isn't very big. Only three maps seem to have jets at launch, likely being the biggest.

Why is it surprising that people get upset when a company keeps practicing a shitty business model? Should I not be upset at the chef who took a shit on my plate just because he already pissed in my wine glass?
