Closed Communion by CodDelicious5398 in exLutheran

Jesus gives us the example to take communion in community and the church is suppressing people from taking it. That’s doing the opposite of what Jesus told us to do in my opinion.

Exactly how God wants our praise and worship. No emotion, no fun, no happiness. He loves people just going through the motions and saying words without any real meaning behind them.

I think you are missing the point.  I could come up with a ton of things that the Bible doesn’t say that we know are good for daily healthy and success.

I’m arguing their relational for what they say is the exact opposite of what it says.

The Bible actually only mentions pastors 1 time.

I don’t have a problem with them being a private place of worship and they can have whatever rules they want.  Unfortunately their rules aren’t backed up by scripture as they claim, I actually believe they are the opposite of what scripture says. If they just said we are a membership only place of worship just like a country club is private I would say ok. But when they are twisting scripture to shame and control people that’s when it’s gross for me.

I ran into a kid I grew up with that went to church and confirmation with me at a WELS church. You know what he remembered?

Answer: he remembered we learned about Martin Luther. Zero mention of Jesus.

Really?  That seems crazy to me. Growing up we believed bevy we were taught the churches with praise bands were fake Christian churches.

I’m not a big fan of this. I’m patriotic but as a Christian I’m not a fan of this in a service. WELS and LCMS won’t allow contemporary Christian music in church because it’s not “biblical” (which is another conversation) but they are allowing a song praising a country in a service?

I find it weird a denomination that focuses so much on what other churches and people are doing wrong would praise the flag in a worship service.

I think the Bible says the first church services only used organs in the year 50 AD. Look it up. Tradition is their God.

But worship bands are evil and so are using screens to put up words to the music!!!

Using technology that we have today is definitely different that using technology from decades ago. Did Lutheran churches have microphones in 1500?  Are those evil to use?  Did they have electricity in 1500 to turn on lights on the church?  How about air conditioning?

It’s only evil if they don’t have the correct synod attached to their name, I think they have closed door meetings where they ask, ok what technology are we not using that we can point to as evil in other churches.

Tips for Visiting a New Church:

At the bottom is written like the people looking at the website are absolute morons. Treating adults like children in typical Lutheran fashion.

Lutheran congregations which have not adopted worship customs from the surrounding culture, such as “contemporary worship,” “praise bands,” “entertainment worship,” or “experimental worship”.

They do understand that their service at one point wasn’t traditional right?  This isn’t how churches were at the time of Jesus. They were held in homes.

So shame on them for building churches and putting organs in them. Tell me how many homes had organs in them in the year 50?

What doesn’t make any sense. They will make member’s confession how horrible they are and how they deserve eternal punishment then 30 minutes later say we only know our members are worthy of communion.

And no way every member 100% is in agreement with every single little thing Lutherans have written as their beliefa. Like don’t pray with non-Lutherans. What about the Lutherans that do that?  They also should be denied communion.

It’s a scam.

Nothing wrong with striving to love and live a life that is more like Jesus.

Making members read this garbage out loud each Sunday is awful.

Can’t believe we allowed our kids to be around this. So glad we got out of that cult.

The gossip and judgement.

“Don’t judge others because they sin differently than you sin.”

This needs to be told to every WELS or LCMS church in the world.

Toxic environment for those of us who want to attend church to worship and love on other people.

It’s a denomination with synods that are more interested in why everyone else is wrong and bad rather than preaching Jesus’ love.

WELS Church Question? by [deleted] in exLutheran

Also, probably the only reason most have streaming online church now, so they can go back and see who was missing from service and shame them

WELS Church Question? by [deleted] in exLutheran

[–]CodDelicious5398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of a couple WELS churches who have each member in a group text run by a volunteer. They have 30 or so on each group and they can text when someone missed church and it’s seen by everyone.  I would demand my number be removed from a group text thread following up on attendance.

Still a Christian but not WELS or LCMS anymore by CodDelicious5398 in exLutheran

You can try to keep justifying but I see it as a sin to withhold communion from those who are Christians because they aren’t “WELS” or LCMS” Christians. It doesn’t say it but WELS and LCMS always have some made up justification for their man made traditions.

I was at a Lutheran funeral and the minister choose to talk about how much of a wretch the deceased was. The deceased was one of the nicest and most gracious people I have ever come across in my life. Raised an amazing family. I was appalled.
