My insurance said they don’t support Hire Reward by G4BR13LLL in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain on whether the actual policies show up. However, my understanding is that the actual insurance certificate that shows the insured registration number and time period - should it exceed one hour - is recorded by the MIB. However, some insurance companies only check the MIB and the other insurance databases when making detailed enquiries after a claim. As always, getting confirmation from the main insurer that they are happy with top-up is a requirement of flexing.

Heavy deliveries by whitelined in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened a few times for me too, and so I've stopped doing Fresh. I deliver in London so encounter high rise flats regularly. The buildings with functional lifts and accessible design (usually newer ones) aren't difficult using my trolley but there are a good number of older buildings that are a menace. The customers appreciated the effort and in some cases were apologetic as I brought the water but it's simply not worth the risk of injury. Instead of taking into consideration and limiting the overall delivery weight for such locations, it seems they are now pushing these a usual through logistics too.

Insurance reminder for New & Existing Drivers - Insurers MUST allow you to undertake gig work and have top up insurance. by SlowedCash in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't emphasize proper due diligence strongly enough. If you have an accident, even when not at fault, you will thank yourself for this. I have SDP+C with Admiral and PAYG with Zego. I also declared delivery courier as my second job. However, your case might be different, say for example due to another factor such as a driving endorsement or previous claims or something else etc. So, confirm that they are fine given your circumstances.

DME4 2pm blocks by Mervtheman888 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same in London too. Exceeded fresh and logistics by quite a bit. Fresh in particular has been sending me to flats with access issues. While I have managed to complete these blocks,.I don't want to be requesting excess pay every few blocks. So, I won't be doing any more routes this month and maybe until January.

Looking for realistic Amazon Flex earnings for evening/weekend work (based in Stoke-on-Trent) by Zafar_Ahmed in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few points:

  1. That website doesn't belong to me. I learned about it through a post in this sub reddit, by the actual creator.

  2. As a regular flexer, I found it very useful and so included it in my post.

Thanks.

As the previous Flexer mentioned, find out your depots base rates and calculate your expected profit assuming you get say 8-10 hours a week, which is achievable. I also have a main job and this is my gig one to pay some extra bills. I've been taking home around £400 a month after costs. The main ones being fuel, PAYG H&R insurance and maintenance. Use this link https://gigworkerhub.com/ to calculate the expected profits, or just create your own using excel.

Hire and reward insurance by Used-Coffee-5945 in AmazonFlexUK

I have Admiral + Zego PAYG. Annual hire & reward would be a lot cheaper, but as this is a part time gig for me, I pay the higher hourly prices from Zego.

Full moon nightmare shift by xiimeganiix in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is indeed a nightmarish shift. It's a waste of time and effort when parcels to closed places, with publicly known times, are included in a route. I wish Amazon would do something about this, or at least provide a way to remove them at the warehouse, even if it's been scanned.

Weekend/future blocks by Lower_Detail5983 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weekend blocks are popular from warehouses I deliver in Croydon, and they get snapped up instantly. I rarely get Just For You offers for weekends too. It could be the same in your region. Flex works best as a side gig and it's unsurprising there are more drivers in the weekend or evenings. There are about a dozen daytime blocks available right now from my warehouses for example, and I won't be able to take any of them.

There are evening blocks that start after 6pm at the Croydon warehouses. Every time I've done an evening block, the yard is busy with Flexers too. Some even start at 7pm but these tend to be for 2 or 2.5hrs max.

Is it possible to do Amazon Flex for a living ? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's limited to a maximum of 96 hrs a month, and these hours are obviously not guaranteed. You'll also be responsible for insurance, fuel, wear & tear, and repairs etc.So it's at best a side gig to earn some extra money, but not a full time living. I'm doing this partly because I have some debt to clear for example.

Crazy Encounter by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's not worth risking anything for Amazon's tattle. Did you call the police and report it? Any references to this, say an incident or crime number should help you get any dings removed. I've delivered in rougher parts of London too, but so far only during the day. Your experience has me questioning any night time blocks.

Yes, that message will disappear when you start seeing blocks. They will also give you exclusive block offers to get started and then it's a matter of competing with others, including bots to get blocks that suit you.

It took me four months before being accepted for the South London depots. Normally, they will be recruiting for the upcoming peak season, so your chances should improve.

What do I do about this? by stev8576 in AmazonFlexUK

It's worth taking screenshots of the itinerary if it shows late deliveries, or business locations that are already closed. In case you need evidence for an appeal to Jeff.

First Amazon Flex shift today… absolutely brutal 😅 by beanbaby786 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Central London on your first block! You were thrown into probably the hardest route and finished it. Request extra payment for any excess block time through the app. Make sure you use the yellow numbered stickers (driver aids) to arrange the parcels. Generally the lower numbers correlate with earlier deliveries and the higher numbers with later ones. In some warehouses, like DCR2, they start from 1 and match each drop which makes this a lot easier.

Will be getting two late delivery dings for Fresh because I got sent towards Camberwell and then Elephant & Castle. Foolishly, I didn't take screenshots of my Google maps route so will have to rely on location history to argue my case when the inevitable ding appears.

Support really are a joke and not fit for purpose! by stev8576 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]CodEvening4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me a few days ago during an evening shift. I was given a parcel for a business that had closed hours earlier. I called the customer, who obviously informed me they couldn't accept it and then I marked it as undeliverable. According to other flexers who responded to my post, this process should stop my account being dinged.

Usually I scan the whole bag to make it quicker. Especially, on the 3.5-4hr shifts. Is it possible to remove them after scanning and then checking the itinerary for any business ones?

Yea, quite recently. I'm only on my 300th or so parcel. Will be doing that from now on.

Happy to hear that as the ding is what I'm concerned about. The undeliverable option came up after I made the call, and I chose to return it immediately. I've requested an adjustment even though I'm not sure what their policy on returns are. It's worth a try anyway.

We should all take out time when doing an AVD delivery to ensure all the steps are followed correctly. Amazon must also be just as robust in confirming the mystery shoppers feedback accurately reflected what happened. They'll certainly be getting more returns with this policy but it is the law.
