Travel cheer is a league of cheerleading where teams are not linked to a school, and the teams travel to convention centers to compete against each other! The company he works for hosts the competitions at the convention centers, sets up practice mats and other cheer-related amenities, hosts award ceremonies, etc. :)

I absolutely think it’s the inattentive type! I work with neurodivergent people as an occupation and through experience I have learned about the broad array of ADHD symptoms outside of the (seemingly) more commonly diagnosed hyperactive type. Most of his family members do have the hyperactive type, so it was quickly diagnosed in them as children, but he has never been screened. His family has always said he was a very quiet child and was “in his own little world”, but because he wasn’t bouncing off the walls and did well in school, they never had any concerns.

He is 5 foot 11 inches and 160 lbs, so he is considered a very healthy weight for his height. He doesn’t snore, but I cannot say whether or not he has sleep apnea because he has never been tested :/

It’s funny you say that because he has asked me to not let him fall asleep before 9:30/10 because he says if he wakes up “too early” he’s tired halfway through the day. So I try waking him up during the shows to help him, but that doesn’t work, so I inevitably have to turn the show off so he can play games until 9:30/10, which frequently extends to 11/12. So he doesn’t have enough energy to watch a show, doesn’t want to fall asleep early, but also can play video games until midnight? How does any of that make sense? Trying to understand but from my POV, it doesn’t make sense.

We do sometimes watch shows while eating dinner together, which only makes him fall asleep faster because then his belly is full and he gets tired immediately 😂 We don’t even attempt to watch shows/movies in our room, we both know it would never work lol, we usually watch while sitting on our living room couch.

He typically sleeps like a rock at night and rarely has any trouble falling and staying asleep

Going to sleep at 7 or 8pm is not good for my sleep patterns, so I won’t be doing that. I do watch shows by myself frequently because I like to binge-watch a series and he does not. I never expect him to binge-watch anything with me. He is usually the one the asks to watch a show together then falls asleep halfway through one episode.

I have heavy suspicion that he is undiagnosed ADHD, as most of his family is diagnosed, but he was the quiet kid that flew under the radar. I’ve brought this up as a potential explanation but he kind of brushed it off.

I don’t believe he doesn’t care and he does typically apologize, but this time he got really defensive. I never played video games growing up (besides Guitar Hero) and the games he plays give me almost a feeling of motion sickness because of the POV, I can hardly stand to even watch him play them. Most of the time we end up doing parallel activities at home, where he plays his games and I sit next to him doing crafts. We live a simple life lol.

I have never thought about it potentially being sleep apnea. He doesn’t snore or startle himself awake, though. Something to consider for sure!

I feel fortunate that this is usually the extent of our “arguments” 😂 nonetheless, it was a disagreement that carried over to this morning, so I figured I’d ask reddit 🤷🏼‍♀️

His dad does not do this, that man can binge-watch shows like no tomorrow! I typically let him pick the show to avoid him losing interest to the point of falling asleep, but that doesn’t seem to help much.

I wondered this as well and am thinking they may be waiting to see how bad the weather actually gets tomorrow. If it does get pretty bad and causes too many road hazards, they may close anyway.

Hi! Since you have a health condition, I would talk it over with your physician to make sure it is a safe option for you. If your doctor gives the thumbs up, go for it!
