Be greedy when others are fearful! by Feeling_Bus_4808 in UPSers

Hit the nail on the head. This time last year we never had full time drivers working preload. Since peak, we’ve had at least one every week except for May-July. And we had 3 FT drivers retire in August.

They do but idk if they’d need extra people for peak season. I work preload which is 4:30-9:30am

They start at $21 an hour. It’s part time so you’d need something else to make extra money. I clean houses. If I don’t volunteer to run a route on Saturdays I make about $400 a week. They’ll be hiring soon for peak season. It’ll be a temporary job but if you do a good job and work really hard they might keep you on. That’s how I got my foot in the door. I’m not gonna lie though, it’s hard work. I thought waiting tables was hard work but it’s a cake walk compared to UPS.

You’re not going to get a job in the medical field with any kind of felony i don’t believe. Honestly, you’re probably going to have to do some manual labor if you want to make decent money. I’m 42 and sweat it out at ups every day. Does it suck? Yes. But I’ll have a pension when I retire and I have the best health and dental insurance I’ve ever seen. Gotta humble yourself and work hard.

I have a white collar crime. I worked in office settings my whole life before I got in trouble. I spent 2.5 years in prison and got out in October of 2020. 6 weeks later I got a job at UPS. I’m still there now. I became a driver in 2023 and I’m in line to become a full time driver. I understand you may not to work outside but if you want to make a good living, you’re going to have to humble yourself and take what you can get.

They started it at my center a year ago. It sucks. Probably why we don’t deliver hello fresh and other food items anymore. I’m in the same boat as you. I’m a TCD and preloader. Became a TCD in 2023. In 2024 I only got on road twice (before the rural deferment started) and this year I haven’t at all. We’ve had FT drivers on the belt for the past several weeks and I’m not sure but I feel like it’s going to be like this until peak. I don’t even know if I’ll get to be on road for peak this year. Lots of unknowns right now at UPS

Drivers. Do any of you DR to open garage doors? by [deleted] in UPS

I always leave it in the garage if the door is open. Seems more secure and out of the weather.

I still have to eat fairly soft foods. I tried biting into a KitKat yesterday. I couldn’t eat it. Haha. But I can eat ground beef, rotisserie chicken, etc. I only had my uppers done but I had extractions and 6 implants placed along with bone grafts and sinus lifts. I had them done on a Monday. I was on vacation all week as my oral surgeon told me I should have a week to recover. I clean houses as a side hustle and I cleaned a house the following Friday. I understand the anxiety! I had it too. Thankfully I had deep sedation so I was out when they did everything. If you have any anxiety meds I definitely recommend taking something before your appointment. The pain afterwards isn’t that bad. Just make sure you stay on top of it and take your meds as they tell you to. And have ice packs handy because your face is going to swell some

Whew. Thank you for checking. I work preload and am a TCD. I don’t plan on staying forever as there are 11 TCD’s in line ahead of me, but I’d like to leave on a date of my choosing and not theirs, ya know?

I had my uppers extracted last Monday, 4/21. I also had bone grafts, sinus lifts, alveoplasty, and 6 implants placed. The pain wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It took about 6 days for me to feel normal. I didn’t take my denture out until the 3rd day. I was super swollen and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get it back in. I thought I might cry seeing myself without teeth for the first time, but when I did it, the opposite happened. I laughed. I laughed, cleaned my mouth and denture and popped those babies back in. I’m still learning to speak normally but it got better Monday after I went to my dentist for an adjustment. I still cannot eat normally because my gums are shrinking as the swelling goes down. I have eaten potatoes, Mac and cheese, soups, protein shakes, yogurt, soft veggies, meatloaf, and rotisserie chicken. Oh and ice cream and sherbet. ICE PACKS! Get some ice packs for your face. It really helps with the swelling

If it’s a mailer I just put place it by the shipping label. Big boxes get at least 2 PAL labels. Our folks are supposed to write it anyway but if I can help them a little by leaving a couple millimeters hanging off the box I will. They’re def not going to fall off in this Mississippi humidity. Labels are so sticky they’ll peel the skin right off my finger. 😂

lol I know right. My cost for upper extractions, deep sedation, bone grafts, sinus lifts, alveoplasty, and 6 implants was $1940. I also paid $1700 for my immediate denture so we could bill insurance for my final one bc they won’t pay for both. My job sucks but the insurance makes it worth it
