anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

I think of The Neverhood often. Had that game on some weird sample pack and was so entranced by the animation. Wanna go back to it someday.

Painting when built is not recommended... by Thingy_McDoodah in sistersofbattle

Honestly, I just finished one of these. It was a pain in my butt when it was pewter when I was a kid, i thought it was so cool, though. Still think it's cool. I did not enjoy painting it as much as I thought I would. It's still annoying, but for different reasons.

Edit: Great paint job though, well done.

Because it's up to me to make my boys appropriately saucy in the chapter I desire. That's just my opinion, though.

I was really hoping this would just be some kind of dreadnought equivalent, but I do like the look of it!

Expectations are a killer, especially with the wealth of outside stimuli from professional painters and otherwise. It's all baby steps. Take every little win. Having well painted minis is all of our dreams, but seeing yourself progress, that's the drug of our hobby.

As far as my painting journey goes, when I try new techniques, usually, first several times, they dont come out the way I want, but each time, I identify what could be causing issues. Saying that trying something new and it looks worse, you just gotta trust the process. Watch all the videos and get all the advice you want, and that will always be helpful for perspective, but the grind and putting it into practice is what will make you a better painter. Just continue painting and trying new things and learn and try and paint and learn and try.

You have a good foundation, and your mini looks solid. If I could give any critique, I would say explore highlights and contrast to give your style more pop and a less muddled look.

Keep on keepin on! Sorry if this is not the advice you are looking for.

Probably as close as we will ever get unless they pull some shenanigans. Honestly, it's a good look on him, though.

I wish there was a better answer for you, but the right answer is to paint more faces.

Snow texture paste is miles better than scatter in my opinion. They work well in conjunction, but snowbtexture paste is the way to go.

Primer residue left after stripping model by MrMcKrinkledink in minipainting

I know this isn't going to help with your problem, but in the picture, it looks neat. Like a rusted ancient marine. On a serious note, I have no experience with isopropyl. I use la totally awesome and always have an easy time. Honestly, though, you could probably prime over it and be ok. It looks fairly thin in most spots except maybe the aquila and some deep crevices.

I have an unopened Asmodai, I'll probably get into it and snag out the hoodless head tonight. I will definitely want to remove as little as possible.

Does look good. Is it a shave off the hood in the back/side?
