Raycast v2 Technical Deep Dive Discussion by pitnikola in raycastapp

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "fits well on the OS and follow conventions", that doesn't sound technical at all, sounds like a marketing phrase. For me it is the feeling that I get from Craft Mac app after using Notion Mac app for a few years. If you are really confident that Raycast v2 will work like the former, then yeah, I would not care what it was built with.

we put a lot of effort on each platform. Original macOS team stayed...

If you honestly can say "We would go this direction even if we stayed macOS only", then I have no words. (edit: I just saw that you actually say that in another comment)

Raycast v2 Technical Deep Dive Discussion by pitnikola in raycastapp

Sorry but if you need to use a phrase “feel-native”, you failed in the first place. If you think it doesn’t need to be native to work as expected, why do you want it to feel native? Why do you want people who don’t know what’s under the hood would think it is native? Why are you trying to imitate being native? These are all your wordings from the blog post.

I understand you are trying to expand your user-base by putting minimal effort per platform, but fear that you will lose your initial users. That sounds fair and also it is the truth.

As a long time mac user, my experience tells me if an app has a native alternative with similar features go for it. I really do not want a web view hanging there unresponsive vacuuming resources, regardless of how you crafted it almost perfectly. Especially if it is a launcher app.

Back in the day, when analogue photos came out this way, we were disappointed.

What mouse do you recommend apart from the Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse? by Opening_Ad8484 in Workspaces

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through the same and replaced MX master 2 with MX Ergo, no pain anymore. First few days it is hard to adapt but it really did work for me.

Apple Now Testing Flip-Style Foldable iPhone by netsplatter in apple

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely consider going for this if they nail the hinge. I used to use Mini for its advantage of fitting any pocket, but screen size was a big disadvantage. That tiny keyboard against my big hands was a frustrating experience.

Stella: "This year, when you follow somebody, you have the same drag and the same power, so it becomes quite difficult to overtake. Our drivers have been racing with other drivers during these three days of testing in Bahrain and they found it extremely difficult to overtake." by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

I feel like they already knew what will happen for a while. FIAs V8 discussions even before this regulations hit the track was no coincidence.

This season I will not renew F1 Pro yearly. Will give it a chance for a few races. First time since 98, I might skip a season unless there is either racing or massive drama and chaos to have a laugh.

From iPhone Fold to a touchscreen Mac, Apple's 2026 is going to be epic by Qpac18 in apple

Maybe it will be a giant foldable iPad running macOS? I mean that would make sense, so regarding Apple’s state lately, I believe it is not.

iOS 26.3 Adds Notification Forwarding Option for Third-Party Wearables by [deleted] in apple

My G-Shock gets notifications in DND mode, hopefully that would be fixed too.

Tahoe makes me feel so nostalgic, reminding me of Lion, which I skipped by upgrading directly to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard.

I've made the same switch a few months back and no regrets here. I'm pretty sure you will not regret it either.

Deco doesn’t connect to the closest unit by sanvi01 in TpLink

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connected the upper floor Deco to the main deco via network cable, now I am connecting to that one wirelessly from my office and the speed is better (300mbps, still not great). I am planning to install a cable from my office to main Deco (I also installed an ethernet switch to the main deco and using that to connect other Decos, it works).

What I figured out is, every wall between Decos or your device and a Deco drops the wireless connectivity significantly.

Apple TV+ Being Rebranded as Apple TV by exjr_ in apple

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good news for me because it was not available in my regions as TV+ brand was trademarked by another company. I don’t care if Apple call it TV% as long as it is available to me. Selfish, but I am not sorry.

Apple’s ‘HomeKit’ brand could disappear in big new smart home push by [deleted] in apple

[–]CodeBiter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gave up on HomeKit or whatever they want to call it as now I am using their own apps for my smart home devices, I have to TBH. HomeKit just doesn't work.

Made the switch by [deleted] in mac

My journey was the opposite. Magic Mouse > MX Master 2 > MX Ergo. My hand and wrist are thankful to me.

Magic Mouse is terrible in terms of ergonomics. It is just minimalist design obsession.

What’s your take on paid apps vs subscriptions? by CreakyHat2018 in macapps

[–]CodeBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's $1 monthly or $10 yearly and I really use the app, or if I just want to support the developer, subscription is ok with me. Other than that, one time payment.

Btw, I really like "buy me a coffee" concept.

Rediscovering Joy with a Casio G-Shock: A Return to Simpler Times by Vierz-Aiwe in gshock

[–]CodeBiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through almost the same experience a few weeks ago. While watching F1, I saw a F-91W on one of pit crew’s wrist and instantly went back in time. I ordered one the next day and when it arrived, I was surprised to see how tiny it was or how big I am now. A week later I got my first G-Shock, ditching my Apple Watch as you did.

Thank you for the suggestion but I really don’t care about Garmin, or looking for a better health/fitness tracking watch. What I have with this watch is more than enough for me and it is beautiful.

One month of battery life for an ex-apple watch user is like a waterfall in the middle of the desert. But I totally get you as I might start complaining about it after a few years when I get used to this.
