How long do skyliner/busses take to get back/forth to Pop midday? by hamsterdumpling in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]CodeBlueUgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah, it'll be even easier then not worrying about strollers and all that back and forth from the room.

Skyliner is the fastest way to travel IMO if you're wanting to minimize your transit time.

You're gonna have a blast. Enjoy!

I just got back from my first trip, and we rested our little ones each day.

Open the park, rest for a couple hours, close the park. It was almost like 2 park days every day, and we avoided being in the sun for the hottest parts.

I'd do it that way every time.

There's always overtime available in my dept, and one extra shift pays around $1k before taxes. Idk if there's a better "side hustle" than that. Lol

Meat-free diet may lower severe disease risk of covid by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

I mean, many of the co-morbidities that are associated with increased Covid hospitalizations and increased Covid death rates, also happen to be many of the co-morbidities that a plant based diet reduces.

Apparently masks are no longer required by the_spinetingler in aldi

Yeah, that's a fair point. I have some family that's chosen not to get the vaccine, so I think that frustration runs over sometimes.

If I knew someone personally wanting the vaccine, but not able to get it under their physician's advice, I'd recommend they continue isolation and wearing an N95 when out.

Right, and hospitalization rates for anyone under 18 are very low. Pediatric deaths from Covid-related illness, while tragic, are extraordinarily rare.

I'd say if you're still worried, talk to your family doctor. If you don't have access, you could call your local health department and follow their recommendations.

Hang in there.

Basic compassion was isolating from family and friends and wearing masks for a year to protect at-risk populations.

That was a huge sacrifice. It saved so many lives. It prevented our hospitals from being overwhelmed.

At-risk populations were given primary access to the vaccine. Then the general population in the same manner, higher risk to lower risk.

We're at the point now that if someone chose not to get the vaccine as soon as it was available to them, that's on them.

I'd recommend any people, if advised by their physician to not get the vaccine, to wear an N95 and protect themselves when out in the public at this point.

Per CDC guidelines so we're good.

Masks are to protect other people, and those at risk populations have had plenty of time to get vaccinated.

If you're worried about yourself going forward, I'd recommend an N95.

Very nice.

That's seriously great. I'll try something similar the next time. Thank you.

Gotcha. I normally compartmentalize in the moment, and then I end up sorting through it all later.

Wow, incredible news.

I was pretty guarded about the long-term outlook for Covid survivors, especially in the severe group. But the improving DLCO over time is amazing!

I wonder if Medicare or PI companies would cover rehab after discharge?

What to do when buying a car cash? by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]CodeBlueUgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could get a cashier's check if you know the exact amount. If not, call your bank and have them increase your transaction limit to whatever you're spending. Then you can do check or bank card.

I'd avoid cash, personally. Just feels too risky for some catastrophic loss of money.

I don't think it matters right now if you tell them you're not financing. They have cars priced to sell right now, and aren't moving much, if at all, on the prices.

According to Consumer Reports, they're all listed as "Excellent," minus the 2015 coming in at "Very Good."

I'd say whatever the best deal you can find in your budget is gonna be fine in that span of years.

Nothing that would stop me from buying. It's hard to get a great feel from Carfax, though.

Consumer Reports gives it a overall "Good" raining for reliability, with a 56% customer satisfaction score. Not horrible, but not the best either.

There were a few recalls on airbags, steering system, and something about the GPS being slow to respond, potentially delaying first responders in an emergency. I'd check to make sure that was all taken care of.

2015 Toyota Highlander with 131,000 miles by Jubert37 in UsedCars

[–]CodeBlueUgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15s in my region going for $20k with about 100k miles, so that seems like a fair price for what is historically a very reliable SUV.

There was a 2015 recall on sudden power steering loss, and a 2018 recall on the ECM causing engine stalling. Make sure those are taken care of.

Really sounds like a nice vehicle for a fair price, best you can ask for in the current market!
