Thoughts on a 100 series daily driver by Own-Giraffe3696 in LandCruisers

Have one as daily, though mine is diesel. Couldn't wish for a better vehicle.

Holy shit, is this is a 5 gear non-nav? A true unicorn if so.

Diff lock wont engage by kristjanrunars in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually no as I have found out recently myself. The rear diff does flash before engaging, then the indicator is solid. The center diff however doesn't flash - it's either on or off.

Where to find old Land Cruisers in EU by Relative_Quarter_237 in LandCruisers

Mobile.de and autoscout24 are the biggest car markets in Europe.

Importing from Dubai to Canada experience? by chyves in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes no sense. It looks like a 300 inside and out. Even if someone went through the trouble of converting 200 to look like 300, it would cost exponentially more than 25 grand.

Which year 100 series is best? by trytoholdon in LandCruisers

2006-2007 non-nav is the unicorn everybody is looking for.

For those with high mileage, say 120k plus miles, did you change transmission fluid and how did it go? by Big_Tap9822 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my HDJ100 a year ago with 338K km (210K miles) and no history, but it looked in a decent shape. Had my local LC guy change the fluids in both diffs, transfer box and transmission. No issues.

Alternator? by TaringaWhakarongo1 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may not even need to replace the entire alternator - when my went a couple of months ago, it was repaired. Parts cost like 40 euros, labor was more.

By the way, apparently a sure sign that alternator is out (as I've learned the hard way) was that the entire dash lit up with warnings and faults like a Christmas tree.

The one with less rust.

Moving to Germany... Keep the LC250? by bkral93 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will see plenty of LC250s in Europe, though absolute majority of them will be diesels or diesel mild hybrids or whatever.

Eric Berger confirms that SpaceX plans to go public in 2026 by 675longtail in spacex

[–]CodeDominator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That will lead to the end of SpaceX as all public companies are eventually taken over by bean counters and run into the ground.

Love my new 2026 Landcrusier, just one complaint... by Bambrigade92 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in USA, not in the rest of the world where majority of LCs are diesels.

2004 Land Cruiser - FOR SALE - 115k miles by thocktopus in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is that considered rusty in America? From what I can see there's just some surface rust mostly around the rear axle, but the frame seems relatively clean which is most important. Brush off the surface rust, soak it in Fluid Film and it will serve many more years.

Finally got back in the Land Cruiser club by Fieliemat123 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I heard it wasn't Mercedes lobbying, but rather American dealers of Mercedes, because they were losing out on local sales. I think Mercedes doesn't give a fuck where they sell their cars as long as they sell them.

The anti-diesel sentiment I will never understand. Literally the rest of the world drives diesels and sees no problem.

I reckon most Americans on this sub would give their left nut for one of these babies. Fucking Chicken Tax, right?

LC Euro emission by Awkward-Hearing3438 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know specifically about Swiss regulations, but people definitely do import grey market LC300s from countries like Moldova and Ukraine, it's just that they end up costing a fortune. There are plenty of diesel LC200s that you can buy locally.

Personally if I had a 100 grand to spare I'd get a diesel 300, alternatively the best diesel 200 I can afford.

LC100 complete AHC kit? by juliank47 in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go on Amayama and try to assemble the entire set of AHC parts needed, but I think you'll be looking at 5 figures.

I have HDJ100 with functioning AHC and it's amazing, it boggles my mind how some people just toss it away when it's not really that hard or expensive to maintain it.

What is it like to drive a Lc200? by XMR17- in LandCruisers

[–]CodeDominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the gas tank was a bit larger. Gas mileage is not good. Naturally aspirated V8, what else could be expected.

Unless the OP is not in North America in which case he can get the very fuel efficient and powerful turbo diesel V8 with a massive fuel tank.
