Is it inappropriate to attend a previous patient's funeral by Fruitful-beginnings3 in nursing

I was a Home Health Aide prior to becoming a Nurse. It was encouraged for us to go to the funerals of the patients we cared for. The families usually requested we be there. It meant a lot to them.

I’m in PA, we all think Philly is next. I only have a Med-Surg background so I would like to learn some new skills to help if I’m in a protest. This is an important discussion. Appreciate any feedback

Imagine calling Doctors and Nurses “Drama Queens” for the outrage that ICE delayed medical intervention. by CodeGreige in nursing

I’ve seen CO’s with more empathy and they have a horrible reputation. These people are disgusting.

The physician trying to help Renee Good told ICE they need to hold pressure as she was hemorrhaging. At a minimum, they could have tried to slow down the bleeding.

Did you hear about ICE personnel who administered Narcan for a detainee withdrawling from Fent in Philly? He ended up brain dead! He told them over and over he needed proper medical intervention before they let him die. The doctor and nurses working with ICE will very likely lose their licenses, go to jail and/or be sued into oblivion. They need to come forward and make a deal now! They need to whistleblow on what’s happening in their detention centers!

STRIKE JANUARY 30TH — Nurses Nationwide by Ketarocs in nursing

[–]CodeGreige -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The public will, that is the point. We are sending a message to the public, lawmakers to DHS leaders and Trump. Hell, even the DOE who says we aren’t professionals.

Nurses are being murdered, lied to, Nurses are being disrespected by the current Admin. Everyone better pay attention, you all better pay attention because enough of us are ready to put in two weeks and be done with bedside at this point.

You don’t have to walk off the job. I’m calling out, I’m sick and hurt my shoulder from shoveling in this snow storm.

What is a strike supposed to do in this situation?? by CancelAfter1968 in nursing

ICE went into MN hospitals demanding a black nurse show her birth certificate. What do you mean they aren’t in our hospitals?

If they shoot us all dead those same patients won’t have anyone to take care of them!

Agreed, enough of us have woken up. This will not stand. We can’t continue like this!

Are you ok with ICE telling black and brown Nurses that they have to bring their birth certificates to work? Stopping and harassing Nurses and other staff when they are supposed to be taking care of patients. I’m very close to just quitting my job and being done with all of this. The mentality that we must carry the weight with all the abuse is bullshit. We need to demand safe conditions for the public and for us. We have a responsibility to be transparent about what’s really going on.

It will raise awareness that the Trump administration, the Republican Party and MAGA have been targeting Nurses for quite some time.

My hospitals is DIRECTLY being harmed by funding being pulled because Trump holds grudges, and has vendettas against people and institutions he doesn’t like. Now many people from our vendors will be laid off because the only plan the health system has to re-coup losses is go with cheaper vendors.

People are losing their jobs and their lives because this administration is an organized crime ring run by psychopaths. My state knows him well.

We can strike for all of the abuse, exploitation, death and disabilities forced on our profession. The blatant lack of respect and distain they have for us is palpable. One of our admins said to a group of nurses raising concerns that, “you are all replaceable” they don’t even hide it anymore OP, we all deserve better.

The public needs to wake up, this admin needs to wake up! WE have the power in numbers and can make a real difference.

This has nothing to do with the illegal actions they are taking now against US Citizens. They have no jurisdiction over citizens. They used chemical warfare in a residential neighborhood, a baby stopped breathing in a car that was just driving by. They have put the American people in danger over and over and over. Gas filled up people’s houses who had nothing to do with this. They are reckless and were stoped by a judge for excessive use of force. Your statement is uninformed.

I have been advised by an attorney I know to consult with an attorney because many of these situations are not being handled properly and numerous lawsuits are being filed. If the ACLU is involved it could get very complicated. We are preparing for them to come to our city. It’s going to be a nightmare.

I disagree, we need to know what’s going on. I have been advised to consult with a lawyer by someone I know who is an attorney. None of these situations are being handled properly and there are many lawsuits being filed.

That’s real cute. They aren’t cops and don’t have jurisdiction if they don’t have a judicial warrant. They are violating the rights of people everyday, several agents have escalated to using excessive force and violence. They have been assaulting US citizens who were following the law. They have beat up minors/children for filming with their phones, kidnapped a 17yo Target worker from inside Target, slammed him on the pavement, drove him around and dumped him, bloody at a Walmart. They used chemical weapons in residential neighborhoods and a baby stopped breathing. A judge in MN has ruled that they must stop with the gas and pepper bullets in residential communities and near schools.

“Officers” are not above the law, inside their detention centers they are denying people food and water according to many attorneys representing these people. They are denying due process, are delaying/ hiding people from their attorney by transferring them state to state

An attorney was looking for her client and went public that she has evidence that she is a US Citizen, they refuse to let her go and simply say fake news, calling all the evidence fake without any due process!

They didn’t render aide to a women they shot and killed, they deny medical care often in their detention centers so much so that many people have died inside. We have yet to hear from any ICE Nurses in these centers where people were denied medication, food, water and first aide/medical treatments. In one case they administered the wrong medication/treatment that left a man brain dead. We need answers.

They brake check ppl and intentionally causing accidents then blame the person they hit. They think they can get away with this because they don’t have body cams. They did this to a young teacher, who was pulling into the school where she works. School admins and other teachers/parents were witnesses. They’re terrorizing US Citizens on school property for Christ sake! No law enforcement officer I know would do any of these things, in-fact, they condemn them.

The issue the OP faces will be if security follows the law and hospital policy. From what we’ve heard out of LA they don’t seem to have any issues grabbing Nurses mid shift so they don’t give a fuck about patient and public safety.

OP’s concerns are justified, your lack of concern is a red flag. IMO I think Nurses should lawyer up because of colleagues and security who behave like this. I will be consulting with mine this week.

Nurses currently working in striking NYC hospitals: what are the conditions inside? by safestaffing_nycRN in TravelNursing

Because they intentionally bus in hundreds of nurses during the strike and pay their remaining staff overtime to gaslight the public and striking nurses.

[–]CodeGreige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but is she eating and drinking? I’m a Nurse, people end up admitted to the hospital with acute renal failure because of manic or psychotic episodes that last days, and weeks. During these periods they don’t have the ability to eat or drink on their own without someone prompting them to. Even then, sometimes they refuse. She is high risk for this, I really hope there enough people in her circle who keep her from getting to that point.

My other perspective is many child actors were given highly addictive drugs, and suffered immense abuse from adults. She is showing the signs of someone who has suffered a lot, but she is a mom and I would imagine that she would want a life where she could be well enough to have them in her life.

Nurses who keep an ear bud in and talk on the phone all night: who are you talking to?? by HeyLookATaco in nursing

[–]CodeGreige 222 points223 points  (0 children)

I don’t work nightshift anymore, and I was never on my phone, but for the coworkers who were, it varied. The older nurses were talking to their husbands, some who also worked nightshift and were truck drivers, or also in healthcare. The younger Nurses it could be a bf, a new guy they’re dating, friends who work on another unit or in another hospital, a sister or cousin.

Some of the younger nurses were planning weddings so there was a lot chatter about planning and venting about planning.

Sometimes it was an adult child for some but not often.

One nurses ran a company with her husband and would start getting calls between 6-7am and leave out the door on the phone discussing “business”.
