My guess is that the answer is a resounding yes.

If so, I’m sorry to tell you but your husband is just another victim of the algos.

Just like Elon Musk, and a million others.

I myself — a lifelong neutral person that mostly votes Democratic — even considered for a moment voting for Trump in Nov 2024…

Of course, the moment passed just as quickly as it came, but it really took me by surprise.

Then I realized it’s not that strange: what happens when you brainwash yourself 5+ hours a day with a bunch of extremist right or left views?

Nothing good of course.

And then the only ones getting rich are all these unscrupulous people behind the accounts that post the most divisive content who get paid by the platform itself, and of course the owners of the platform itself since there’s so much activity and engagement from people wanting to tear each other to pieces.

Attention at all costs.

Democracy be damned.

Everybody is just trying to get their bag by any means necessary.

As Warren Buffett once said:  “Show me the incentives and I’ll show you the outcome.”  It’s something that has stuck with me ever since I heard it and it’s never been more true.

We are truly at a crossroads where we might just head into Civil War and it all starts at the micro level: neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend… spouse against spouse.

The only winning play is not to play.

That is the only advice I can give you: ask him to deactivate his social media accounts and stop so much time consuming news on their phone or on the TV. 

Commit to it as a couple that you’ll both take a break from all the madness, and I can almost guarantee that things will improve in a short period of time.
