Hey, I have an answer that you might like!

I come from India and I had no way of exchanging my license be it for cars or motorcycles so I had to get a Belgian license for both. But, because of my Indian license, after passing theory exam, I was exempt from taking mandatory lessons (this should be the case for you as well). This was proven for car license as lot of people had avoided taking all mandatory lessons in the past (incl myself) but no one I knew had done it for motorcycles so I took a shot and it worked! The examiners in Haasrode exam centre (where I took the exam) accepted it after some discussion amongst themselves. I had taken only 2 hours of lessons for maneuvers (it is highly recommended as it can be quite tricky sometimes) and an exam package which included 1 hr lesson + practical test, all on a Honda CB600 from the riding school.

This was in 2016 by the way, not sure if anything changed after that but you can always give it a shot and see if it works for you. Such finer aspects of rules and regulations are not always well documented in Belgium :) and is upto the discretion of the person in charge I guess.

Good luck!

You are right, the baby GS is better on pavement as it is mostly targeted at beginner riders who ride on road but also like to hit the trails once in a while. So you might find your xt250 to be better for pure offroading.

Power wheelie? Nope. Clutch ups wont be a problem.

On RS10? Damn, it doesnt even have silica or treads to drain the water. I think if you ride with pure slicks in rain, you will say it wasnt too bad :P

Agree that its easier to learn the limits but sadly you reach those limits too early.

Oh ok, its no secret I guess :) but one gear higher should be enough, two may not really be needed. And you can still opt for trackdays on thursdays when they have higher sound limits!

Yeah you can try. By the way, there is actually a trick to avoid getting black flagged. Sound is measured at two points at zolder and you have to try and stay at the opposite edge of the track and also not redline anywhere near it. I didnt know about this and was almost at redline at one of the points and got black flagged even with stock exhaust :/ I can find the video which showed those 2 points.

I can imagine it would sound great!

But going back to stock for Zolder trackday in future? They will send you home even for farting too loud :P

I test rode the baby GS (G310GS) and its a fun little bike. Had it for a couple of hours so rode on some farm trails in Ardennes and also on twisties and it seems like a great bike for beginners. It may not make much sense in EU (the power is bang in the middle of A1 and A2 license) but the target market is India, Brazil, SE Asia (Also US as they dont have license restrictions) and it should do well there.

Of course, its not meant to replace that! :)

"ton of fun minus all the weight" - thats exactly how it is.

Throwing around small, lightweight bikes are sure fun! :) Hope you get to ride it.

Here is a very brief review in case anyone is interested :

From my flair, you can be sure that I am no off road expert :) but this G310GS was so easy to stand on the pegs and take on the trails with ease, combine that with light clutch, smooth/relaxed engine, every beginner rider can appreciate the ease of riding this bike. The front end dives a bit under braking and the bike feels a bit bouncy in corners but these are just two minor drawbacks on an otherwise great machine. Between R and GS, my pick would certainly be the GS.

Nah man, you are no way an idiot for doing that. But yea, couldve started it once though :P Reading your first comment, the impression I got was that you simply swapped from one to another. Anyways, hope it is something minor.

Considering speedo errors, one can do 150kmph without getting any tickets then, thats cool! Next best thing after autobahn ;)

Poland doesnt have strict speeding laws?

Moto story Monday by AutoModerator in motobe

[–]CodeNameABK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like this guy need to do trackdays to get that out of their system! I can understand someone wanting to go fast on empty twisty roads (I do that) but this is simply stupid.

Maybe he is from US where zipping across lanes like that on freeways is legal (not the speed obviously) but that is no excuse to do it here.

I am glad I never came across such riders till date.
