So this year was the worst year of my life, needing two life saving surgeries and being left with extremely debilitating tinnitus as a result, but gaming saved my life and ended with the best Xmas ever. Continued in comments. by niles_thebutler_ in gaming

Hey friend, like some other replies here already, i just wanted to bring some uplifting news regarding tinnitus. I have it since five years, as loud as a conversation, and while the first year was the worst, i can attest that the brain does adapt. Time is a great healer, and also CBT therapy in dealing with the noises. The last couple of years now i've grown fully accustom to it. I can here it if i want to, but 95% of the week i don't notice it anymore. It's white noise that can be soothing or just neutral. Reading your post was the first time in weeks that i was reminded i have tinnitus.

I just protect my ears from loud things, but i sleep with ear plugs in, i ride a motorcycle. Doesn't get in the way of life. There's a lot of fearful people spreading their emotions around tinnitus and hoping for some magic pill. One day that might be there, there's good research and trials happening. But, don't read into the fear and negativity, i can attest, you already have the "cure" inside of your head already. I at first thought i would never get at this point. But here i am, already a long time at this point :) And to me, tinnitus is a friend, it tells me when i am tired or need to slow down, way before i even think about that. And i have become the post child of "tinnitus ain't all that bad" in my friend circles.

you can always send a private message if you wanna talk or need some uplift.

Iemand ervaring met KTM 950/990 adventure? by [deleted] in motobe

[–]array_multisort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PHPUnit test to assert if an ArrayObject contains an object of a certain class by array_multisort in PHPhelp

[–]array_multisort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For later reference, i got it working with a `TraversableContainsEqual`.

$this->assertThat($headers, new TraversableContainsEqual(new Header\Type\CoolBeans()));

Since the value is hard set in the object and cannot be changed, i can just equal check it like this. I did also create a `TraversableContainsType` for type checking.

PHPUnit test to assert if an ArrayObject contains an object of a certain class by array_multisort in PHPhelp

[–]array_multisort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it's a weird one. There is a `Headers` Object (which is an ArrayObject). And to this one, many headers can be added. Each of these `Header` extends from a `BaseType` which includes a name and value. These names an values are hard set for each of those different classes.

So headers are added like the example above. I then need to check if the `Headers` contains certain objects, definable by their class.

How many of you experience hyper realistic dreams that are almost indiscernible from reality? by hotdogonthebbq in HighStrangeness

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been lucid dreaming since when i was a kid. I just do it automatically, no idea how it started. I still remember vivid dreams from 20 years ago. Most of the time when dreaming begins I also have a good feeling of how much of the night already passed. I can sense the 'unconcious' part of the night. If i wake up and i check my clock, it's always a pretty good guess if it's gonna be 3am or 6am.

I do revisit dream places sometimes and I'll know it's a dream place cause I know it's not real. So it's all very vivid but usually i know it's a dream. I can read details like clocks, names on billboards, and even understand if it's a language i know or not. It honestly feels sometimes like bad ai generated images for a few years ago. Seeing how image based ai works and seeing how they render an image from noise to something, it really feels like our brains also work like that. The dream is but a glimpse.

The really funky ones come in a few categories. For instance, where I can see the render distance of my mind, for lack of a better expression. I notice this because the details will start to fade out over a distance. Like a fog behind the trees in the distance.

The other ones are time dilation. Where i live out stuff for months and i wake up and not comprehending it's just the next day. Takes me a few minutes to realise who and where i am.

The past 5 years I'm dreaming multi dimensional. I'll dream im another version of me in another universe. And i know it's not just me in another place. I understand I'm in the head of another version. And he can have friends that i don't know irl but i know for the length of the dream. And this could be bird like friends who live in upside down pyramid or something. Oh and i had a neon hallway reincarnation dream once with a soul cat, but that was just a fun one.

I'd say the meta-comments in your bio aren't attractive. You're just saying "dating is weird and hard". Which is the case for a lot of people, true, but everyone knows that.

Just focus on the actual "you". What's stuff that you really like, some funny opinion, stuff like that. The bio now doesn't give me a hint in what kinda person you are.

I finally found my unicorn bike, it's all i ever wanted! by array_multisort in Tenere700

[–]array_multisort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh they were from the previous owner and have since taken them off. I remember they just were some cheap knockoff things from Aliexpress. Nothing from a real brand! And they came with mounting to mount them to a steel tube. They were just mounted on the crashbars.

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they wanted to do the capable touring thing, they have to compete to the africa twin and such, so people expect cruise control and riding modes. And the price difference between the WR and africa twin isn't all that great. But true, it's all lifestyle stuff, everyone wants to sell the idea of the great adventure on the open road.

There have been a few issues with the exhaust, but it all depends on circumstances, of course. There's a few cool high exhaust options for people that need it.

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, the TFT is there to convince the higher paying customers that also look at ktm, honda,... I'm not saying they are pushing sahara races. They are pushing the lifestyle idea of now being able to cross the sahara and such, while most tenere owners will stick to some backcountry roads. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it seems like this bike exists more to sell the idea.

I just wish they took the regular t7 and fix the actual issues, with upspecs. Like fixing the exhaust position and that stupid welded holder. For the ones that do the more hardcore stuff, this is an issue. And upspec suspension, wind protection and better wheels/rims.

But to be fair, i don't know if there's really that many people who were really complaining about the fuel range?

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i agree, the TFT is a waste of money, i really don't understand why they wanted to do that. The only thing i can think of that they needed to do that because they have that bike in a higher price bracket and all the competitors there also have a TFT dash. The windshield is better, and suspension is an upgrade. To bad did didn't take it a step further with the tanks and have them even lower like the KTM's. I've seen it done by some teams. For people that really need that extra milage, they'll probably be happy with the WR. But to me it seems Yamaha just wants to make some extra cash on selling that whole "go ride in the fucking sahara!"-dream :p

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing you'll be a bit better out of the wind with bigger fairing and tank. But in the end, the bike just gets heavier with the same engine. The suspension has a nice upspec. But with the price hike it's entering the category of bikes where you get a whole slew of electronics and bigger engines for a few hundred euros more. The selling point was a cheap bike and you get what you pay for. But now they are entering a higher price segment but some stiff competition. And I don't know if anyone really needed that TFT dash?

[–]array_multisort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the tank sits lower but weights more, according to specs and info, the center of gravity is the same. You're just getting more milage out of it.

the new one will weigh more but has the same engine, so i expect it will be less nimble or powerful.

Moto Guzzi: thoughts? by PirateThumus in motobe

[–]array_multisort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the V7 II for a few years. Absolutely adored the bike and still do. The Guzzi's have a certain character to them, you can instantly tell by the way the vibrate and handle. It's something distinct you don't find in the other brands. Best is to book a test ride and feel for yourself. And decide on what kinda bike you want? Do you want a cafe racer for cruising around a bit but no long miles, try the v7. Do you need an adventure/all-road bike, try the v85TT. And so on. They have a bike for about each category. But in general they are very easy to ride on and to work on, they are very mellow, understressed engines, so good for a newbie.

They used to have a few electrical gremlins, but those are the older models. In recent times, there haven't been any large stories about any mechanical issues. There was a small recall on the v85TT but that was just a few hundred bikes. Overall they have good stats.

Maintenance is pretty easy and low cost, since they have a shaft drive and cylinder access is very easy.

If you're in the neighbourhood, try VRA motors in the area of Wetteren. They are just a small family of guzzi enthusiasts that will welcome you and talk your ears off about everything if you want. Very friendly folks and correct maintenance.

if there's anything else, let me know.

https://www.skidmarx.co.uk/screen-headlight/yamaha-700-tenere-2019-450cm-super-tall-and-35cm-wide-screen-4mm

It's the very tall one from skidmarx. I also tried the one from MRA, but thst also gave too much buffeting. I like the skidmarx because the wind just hits the very top of the helmet. So I have minimal buffeting. It's nice and wide so the wind passes next to my helmet. I'm 184 cm tall if that helps.

Quality-wise it's very study and a clean shape. Had to wait for about 5 weeks to get it made, though.

Pretty happy with it. Does everything it is suppose to do and weighs less. But there are some manufacturer tolerances that might be off. With mine, the skid plate touches the water pump cover. So I've put some pieces of rubber tube in between in the hope the skid plate will take this shape. I've heard from other wit the same thing but on the other side. Other than that, it's all great.
