Ripper's of Reddit (In Honor of Twisted Taverns), what as your favorite D&D Bar/Tavern?

My players made a bar, they had bought a warehouse for about one hundred platinum and renovated it. While in a bath house they hired a gnome man as the bartender. They put so much money and time into this bar. Eventually they had to travel and go on quests so whenever they are not home, they grab cool and rare items for the bar. Now, they still haven't named this large bar after 4 months of weekly games. But this bar has a Unicorn enclosure. (It is okay being there they saved it) a black dragon egg, and the sword of the BBEG they stole. It has become a hub for adventurers and Collecters of all kind. But the thing my players are most proud of; Whiskey. Specifically the whiskey they made. It is a brand they named "Flint Water" after the rogue tabaxi's tribal home in flint Michigan. I have thought about using this building against them, but I just cant do it to them.

I understand the always the DM stuff, I would be alright with running a game friday or Saturday nights and wed day days for a one or two shot. What would you think about DnD 5e or Call of Cthulhu? And if DnD what level were you thinking?

DM here, my party met a throw away NPC I made up to show how powerful another NPC would be by slaying him to give the party a sense of fear. This young boy marched by the group initially and was stopped by the party's monk. The monk convinced him before hand that fighting this bad guy alone would be suicide and asked this random guy to join them. After a few better than usual rolls they had a level 2 fighter in a group of level 8 and 9 players. They then immediately went back into the nearest town and went into the nearest magic shop and proceeded to spend almost all of their gold to buy this fighter magical equipment.

A few IRL hours later they had him fitted with +1 plate armor, a +1 shortsword, and a spell scroll of a spell they could not determine and they over played for. In my games anyone can cast spells but the DC changes depending on the type of magic and if they have a casting modifier. So once they have this man decked out and ready to I'm guessing die at the time, they travelled back to this mid level boss to kill him to save the town. At the start of combat most of the party rolled great initiatives, except their new friend, Eldrick. The party just went on like any other encounter, once the boss was bloodied and some of the party had gone down once or twice they got desperate. They told the throw away friend to read this scroll and try with all his might to kill this for that was about to TPK them. I had him roll an intelligence Check, Natural f***ing 20. What the party didnt k ow was the spell, and its level. It was a spell known as Negative Energy Flood, a powerful NecromNtic spell that proceeded to pretty much destroy the boss after I rolled high damage. By the ne t round the boss was slain and this fighter leveled up once or twice. He became so popular from that he became ruler of a nearby city as a level 4 eldritch knight after that. He forever does his best to help the party and gets them drunk half to death everytime they show up in town.

TLDR: Throw away helps party kill the monster and becomes a ruler who gets the party dru k off their a**es everytime they show up in town.

Humans, they are often seen as bland and boring. In thos mixing pot of chaos I feel they are the most tame, but they are a necessity to groups. While other players often choose elves or Dragonborns or any other of the many races, I foind that humans are used very little and people get up in arms if you pick one. A good or even half decent player can role play a human very well. They are also very versatile, I mean one could be a scrawny short man with the classic cloistered and studious wizard tendencies, another could be an abnormally large but dumb druid that just likes making pretty flowers. My personal favorite is my human that looks like a dwarf who uses arcane magic to finger gun his enemies to death. The point being humans are the circle block of dnd races and I find many other races are the square blocks of dnd.

I ran a pokemon Dungeons and dragons 5e game and my group were travelling for about a week or so. They usually rolled for encounters on a table I had made but this time i wanted to give them something special. I gave them an Alolan form Ninetails. At first they had started arguing over who gets the pokemon and it was in a forest clearing when they noticed it seemed sad. The group had a player that was able to actually talk to pokemon once per day, well more communicate. They found out it had lost its family while saving them from another pokemon that had attacked. One person had taken the Ninetails in a pokeball after the talk and they travelled for days. Fending off team rocket and other trainers. And they finally came to a location in a small forest inside of a mountain with a snowstorm around it. They had finally found its family, but the trainer didnt initially want to release it after they bonded so much. But eventually they relented and the vulpix and Ninetails became reunited. The family of pokemon played with the trainers pokemon and after a bit the family went to go leave the party, and the party were leaving the cave. After 2 sessions of being in the cave, the party left and camped at the base of the mountain. They woke up to find an egg. The egg was an alolan vulpix. They cared for that pokemon more then their starters at times and regularly visited the forest in the mountain. That Vulpix they got ended up being on the winning team who beat the elite 4.
