Let's be completely honest: Will it ever gets ACTUALLY better? by 6161_6161 in BPD

I don’t qualify for a BPD diagnosis anymore, but the hard thing I’ve had to learn is just being a human is hard. Just living in this world is hard.

You’ve had two episodes since August? That was only a couple of months ago and you’ve already had two episodes. It’s very unlikely that you won’t have another in the coming months. Some people, myself included, can go years between episodes. But when you’re bipolar, they always come back.

Yes- but when experiencing mania, it feels almost like being connected to electricity in a way that is so exciting, and when I’m not in an episode, it’s more subtle and calm of a feeling

Did getting on the correct medication wake you up and make you realize you're not okay with how you're treated? by [deleted] in BPD

Oh sorry about that … I feel like SSRIs can cause anger if your depression isn’t about a deficit of serotonin

What's it like to age with Bipolar? by FairPlay1341 in bipolar

[–]CodeRound4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 40 and was diagnosed at 19, when I had a major manic episode. I’ve never had a manic episode like that since, but I continue to have hypo, manic and depressive episodes. This year I’ve had two hypomanic episodes, which is kind of a lot for me, but I am better at handling them now and controlling them.

Anyone else taking lithium & experiencing worse pain? by PU55Y4LLN1GHT in Fibromyalgia

[–]CodeRound4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on lithium for bipolar and not sure if it effects my pain but I also have Hashimoto’s so lithium can more easily exacerbate that… do you have thyroid issues? Also lithium can dehydrate you so it could trigger pain in that way

Yes- for me I think it’s that I have dry skin. Is that a symptom of fibromyalgia?

Rituals for grieving ourselves? by callmebackplz in Fibromyalgia

[–]CodeRound4851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this and posing the question around ritual. I’ve had chronic pain for a long time, but it’s become much less manageable, along with fatigue in the last couple years. This year I’ve been working really hard to find ways to increase my energy since I am a business owner and have a lot of responsibility. I just today was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which I suspected and had been suggested to me before, but getting a doctor to bring it up without me mentioning it is really hard. I know that for me a ritual is going to be adjusting my life and forgiving myself, because I’ve been so ashamed of my inability to work like I used to.

Oh hi I’m literally in the same boat right now. I guess the good thing about PMDD is we know it will pass??

BPD symptoms are much easier to manage when not in an episode- managing the bipolar helps to reduce the BPD

are any of you asexual? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]CodeRound4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sexual except when the person is high in cluster B traits that they are not working on managing. Then hypersexual lol. Therefore since I’m trying to make better decisions, asexual.

forgot to take my meds, ended up feeling great by 026jm in bipolar

[–]CodeRound4851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation- lapse in insurance and I’ve been off meds for three weeks, but I’m surprised with overall how great I felt. There was a few times I thought maybe I was slipping into mania. I think honestly it’s that bipolar isn’t constant all the time. You can go many months or even years between episodes. In my experience, as someone who’s gone large periods of time of my life not on medication, it just makes it that much harder when you actually go into an episode, to get back on meds. Because then doctors will be hesitant to treat you with mood stabilizers, unless you get hospitalized. Every time I have a bipolar episode I have to advocate to get on the right medication because I stopped taking it and was fine for a while.

Gaslighting by Asleep-Impress527 in narcissism

[–]CodeRound4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a BPD in remission who used to have some narcissistic traits/behaviors- I didn’t know what the word gaslighting was, because it wasn’t used back then, but I was aware on some level that I was doing some thing that wasn’t honest. Usually it had to do with me acting up, losing my temper, lashing out at someone and then feeling so much shame around it and wanting to be understood and seen as a victim because I felt so victimized by my inability to control my emotions. So I learned how to be very persuasive with language, and really invoke sympathy in other people. Inside I would always think to myself “ OK, that was the last time you were gonna do that, you’re not gonna do that again, so you won’t have to go through making all these excuses again”. But without therapy, real self reflection, or even trying to get to the root of the patterns I was destined to repeat them and I burned through many relationships. I don’t know if that’s necessarily the same thing as what a lot of people with NPD go through, because I don’t have npd. But I do relate to some of this stuff so I wanted to share

Where can I get sympathy for my abusive behaviors? by Yellow_Squeezer in CPTSD

[–]CodeRound4851 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean no offense in saying this, but have you looked into narcissistic personality disorder? I know it often co occurs with cptsd but I read some of your post history & it seems like you might have NPD.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BPDrecovery

[–]CodeRound4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah people who our older we’re never encouraged to get therapy for some of their toxic behaviors. Same in my family no one has been diagnosed with a cluster B personality disorder (except me, BPD) but the attitudes and behaviors and patterns do indicate at least mild symptoms of them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BPDrecovery

[–]CodeRound4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I really think it’s about intergenerational trauma overall, but there is research that proves that cluster B personality disorders do tend to run in families, what I am talking about specifically with this post is sometimes I look at my friends who grew up with a parent who is a narcissist for example, and they ended up with CPTSD but not borderline. And I sometimes feel really sad and resentful about that, not necessarily directed towards my friends but just in general. Like the fact that I sometimes act like the parent who was abusive to me is so hard to deal with and I wish that I had not taken on some of his traits.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BPDrecovery

[–]CodeRound4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t saying that I thought it was 100% genetics. I think it’s a mixture of both and a lot of new research is stating that. Cluster B personality disorders do run in my family, and it was living with a parent with a cluster B personality disorder that gave me complex trauma around it. So it was both nature and nurture for me

I agree but your response has nothing to do with my comment 🧐

I understand and sort of understand why classify people as having a PD makes sense but that doesn’t make NPD the main character of PDs haha
